A healthy Ratchanok of course stands a chance, and if she was healthy, she wouldn't have retired. It's not that the retirement is tactical, it's that they selected her knowing she wouldn't be able to complete the match that is tactical. If we are correct with this theory.
Shoulder injury is the reason for Ratchanok's retirement according to the commentator. Definitely an injury she already had before the match. So basically Ratchanok travelled all the way to Denmark just to concede a match.
I thought it was weird that they didn't field Ratchanok yesterday against INA, where she would have got a chance to get a feel of the court with a better chance to win. It is weird that she was fielded today in a tough match, this being her first competitive match post Olympics. It seems tactical now given she is not fully fit...
I'm sure most of the spectators and TV audience must be taken aback and haven't come round to what's happening on Ct 2 with Intanon Ratchanok's sudden retirement after playing a few points.
Play till the end or not, atleast try to make it more authentic for the sake of the true badminton fans
There might be another advantage from this strategy from THA They might caught the CHN WD off guard, that they didn't expect that they will play so soon and haven't warmed up enough going into the game
And possibly aggravate a serious injury? Surely you wouldn't want her to do that? She would not be able to challenge for the win anyway, so it's better to retire immediately and let us enjoy the next match between healthy players.
Have the say these 2 Thai WD are a good image to look at ... skill wise ... ... I hope they'll create a miracle ...
