2015 is Chen Long's best year in terms of tournament victories. I have in mind Chen Long at his very best, all the three major championships he wrested from the Mighty Lee Chong Wei, in 2014 WC, 2015 WC and 2016 OG.
Yeah, he came from being perennial third best player of the world to be the New Best King in 2014. Don't know why he lost to Lin Dan in the Asian Games Final? I thought Lin Dan was far from his prime.
His temperamental weakness seems under control lately, since the Olympics. All the more, we want to see the real test for VA when facing his old nemesis , Momota.
Not sure if there a binary answer here. Current VA seems to be head and shoulders above the rest of the competition, sans KM. Even if he loses in the finals (if both get through), I would say this version of VA is better equipped to score a win against KM that the previous ones Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
True. Even when 17-19 down in g2, I thought he would mentally give up. But surprisingly he didn’t Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Your esteemed friend Morten Frost says Momota is far from his best, so how would he be a "real test" for "Axelsen 2.0"?
Even if LD wasn't in his prime at that time, we are still talking about the player who is seen as the GOAT of our sport CL wasn't as smart of a player back then and LD definitely had the upper hand when it came to adaptability and analyzing the ongoing game without help by the coaches...
If Momota meet Viktor, I will enjoy the match and support for both. Momota for the chance he can stand on the award podium (in spite of the second or the champion). Viktor for his great efforts on practicing every single day. But we have to wait for the semi-final match.
I kind of agree. LZJ could only create openings or win points only at the net, it just shows how VA vastly improved on his overall gameplay. Astute AF. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
I would like to say that no one other than Lin Dan possesses that untrainable "on-the-fly" analytical intelligence in order to adapt to his opponents' tactics. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
Ginting and Jonatan getting injured after winning ThomasCup. People might wonder why didnt they get injured a week earlier haha.
while i am rooting for momota, i am afraid if he meet VA in the final, he might be crushed and i hate to see the confidence going down again, hope he has the mentality to learn from any loss here as a motivation for the future. ganbatte!
Only 2 INA representatives in the SF today. Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti fulfil their seeding and will now face the Thai pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Sapsiree Taerattanachai for a place in the Final. The recent matches have ended in defeats for the INA pair. Meanwhile, Tommy Sugiarto did well in reaching the SF as an independent player and luck of the draw. He will face Kento Momota and will likely lose today.
Just watched the LZJ vs VA match. Good match! It was funny how the umpire, coaches and players wear masks but nobody in the audience is wearing a mask.
...because he feels lzj is currently one of his toughest hurdles and getting better. i'd be surprised if he celebrated that much after beating anyone else outside of the top 5.
