Yeah. $30000 for semi finalists. $60000 for runnerup and $120000 for winners. Unbelievable prize money
TBH, CPS has been doing all/ almost all the work and pretty much carried GLY along this past year. A far cry from the Olympic Silver Medalist pair that they once were a few years ago. Might sound harsh, but I think maybe she is past her prime. Time to settle down, get married and have kids. Also, I noticed the same thing with TKM and LPJ. The Malaysian girls can't seem to keep up. They seem lost almost. Very disappointing.
when the wtf was in dubai the players expenses were paid by the tournament host: biz class airfare & hotel... possibly their food, too. i don't know if it still is.
Definitely. They rely too much on the males to do all the work. Worst part is the males have to create their own chances instead of having them created by the females. They should really retire after this season as age has caught on. The first game of this match was the perfect example of how their court coverage has deteriorated due to lack of speed against fast pairs.
Sad to see CPS and GLY go out like that. Had some hope in the second set but the initial dismay was too much to overcome. Hope the prize money is to some relief. Will be rooting for Watanabe and Higashino in the final.
CPS/GLY have contributed much to the sport and time to call it a day. Maybe they still have sponsorship contracts to meet but it's better to announce your retirement plans. This will set your mind at ease and play freely. Are they playing in the WC?
But the prize money is little bit less compared to this edition. $20000 for semifinalists , if i am not wrong. Airfare and hotel could cover the remaining amount, i am just guessing.
Sindhu is annoying. She always tries to delay the game or match by ignoring repeated calls of umpire or by taking too much time before start of rally.
Must be after yesterday's match. One thing is for sure; whoever goes further, An se would be a happy customer.
Can we have two winners here ? Yama from 12-17 down to level 17-17 , that takes a lot of courage and grit. Hats off to her.
