INA women's team progresses into final automatically as JPN conceded walkover due to some players feeling unfit to play.

I think the WD players are okay, but the WS players, there's just too big a difference between them and others.

I think next time maybe can try out some of the doubles players in singles like what Japan did. It's not ideal but if they're the best players Malaysia has,it could be worth trying.

Today's 2 singles players are only good for district levels.

Chia and Soh are having a hard time against the Koreans who don’t even have a world ranking- One of the Koreans hasn’t played internationally for three and a half years…..

Chia and Soh, especially Chia likes to play to the gallery and loses the point.

Team INA's both Men and Women Team managed to qualify for the Finals tomorrow. The Women's Team was lucky to have avoided a clash against JPN as the Japanese entire squad withdrew. They will have a rematch against Team KOR tomorrow, whom they beat 3-2 on Thursday. I hope they can win to bring home a trophy for the women's squad that desperately needs a result for the team event.

As for the Men's Team, it was an expected victory for the World Champion Loh Kean Yew against Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo. INA also fell behind 1-2 when Ikhsan Leonardo Imanuel Rumbay lost in 3-sets to Jason Teh Jia Heng. It was left to the doubles pair - Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Bagas Maulana (both are unbeaten) to salvage and level the tie at 2-2 after they beat the 2 Singaporean pairs.

The hero of the day is Christian Adinata (yet again, after he rescued INA against KOR) who beat Joel Koh Jia Wei comfortably in straight-sets 21-11, 21-14 to win the tie 3-2.

They will be up against the host Team MAS, who beat KOR 3-0; all hard victories in rubber-sets.

Both teams will likely field the same set of players, unless there are injuries. MAS is expected to win it comfortably either 3-0 or 3-1. But I am hoping Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin can give a fight and perhaps surprise us. Ditto for MD2, if the match is extended to that tie.

    Yes.

Well, INA women's team will challenge KOR (second team), rematch of group stage meeting when the former won narrowly, 3-2. There's an opportunity for INA women's squad to score victory against the weaken Korea team as gonna be tough prospect in Uber Cup upcoming May.

    MEN'S TEAM Final
    INA v MAS

    upload_2022-2-20_11-8-45.png

On paper scenario, MAS A-team will topple INA this time considering overall squad depth, world ranking and H-2-H stats of each players between these two teams. Wardoyo will face his junior peer Lee ZJ who has developed significantly in senior stage, becomes one of MS elite players. Perhaps this is good chance for Carnando/Marthin to score first ever win over Tokyo bronze medalists Chia/Soh WY as the Malaysian exhibited shaky yet uninspiring performance in last two matches, almost blew way their chance after failed to convert match point then lost 20-22 in second game against KOR unranked combination yesterday. Will we watch the fifth match play out this evening?

Putri KW looks good. Very rare that INA has a tall talent like her. If she can be free of injuries and increase her muscle mass.

The 2 victories by Gregoria Mariska Tunjung and Putri Kusuma Wardani over SIm Yujin and Lee Se Yeon - both matches won in straight sets mean that Team INA leads 2-1 over Team KOR.

It was a surprisingly easy victory in the first match by Jorji as she beat the Korean girl twice now - 21-9, 21-10 in just 26 mins.

The first women's double match was quite exciting, especially in the second set and first half of the third-set as the INA pair Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma/Amalia Cahaya Pratiwi seized the second set 21-14. to level at 1-1. The scores were also tight subsequently until 6-6, before the KOR pair raced ahead 13-7. The INA pair closed in at 11-13 and then 13-16 but it was not to be and they lost 13-21 to Baek Ha Na/Seong Seung Yeon. Baek will return to her partner Lee Yu Rim for the European tour.

There was a controversy in the second set when Puput was penalized by 1 point by the umpire, presumably due to the long delay in her receiving the service by the Korean girl. Her momentum was disrupted and from leading 12-7, she fell behind 15-17. Luckily, she calmed herself down and recovered well to win it 21-18, after taking the first set comfortably 21-10.

Can Nita Violina Marwah/Lanny Tria Mayasari win the Cup for Team INA? They trail 8-11 in the first set.

The 2 pairs were trading errors until it reached 19-17 to the Korean pair's advantage. The INA pair was more focused afterwards and levelled it at 20-20. The deciding points went to Nita/Lanny as they take the first set 23-21.

    One more set to go!
