The tactic was to keep HS at the back and move him left and right. With his age, he was no threat and eventually made errors.

It's only going to get harder from this point. Teams who had beat them before (plenty) won't be intimidated.. and will up their game
they will be analyzed, scrutinized and challenged even more now.. so they really have to up their game too...

Aaron needs to lose weight and start attacking more.

but first thing first, they need to beat these several pairs that are very threatening them right now:
    Fajar/Rian
    Liang/Wang
    Pramudya/Yeremia
    Fikri/Maulana
    Ou/Liu
    Astrup/Rasmussen
    Hoki/Kobayashi

I think Aaron Chia needs a better partner, to be honest. WYS is frankly not good enough to be a top-ranked pair by today's standard. He is weak in defense, weak at the net, and doesn't have a particularly strong attack from the rear court.

Chia's talent and ability is being held back by his partner - if he can get a decent partner I'm sure he'd stand a much better chance of beating all of the above pairs.

    I have said this before.

Btw, the name is Soh Wooi Yik. The name on the title thread is wrong.

On the contrary, I think Aaron Chia is being too casual these days. His smash are not that strong anymore and his rate of error is increasing.

WC losing in home ground at R16 to an unranked China pairs in straight sets. Both of them really need to buck up and improve.

Liu Yuchen was a former world champion but that doesn't excuse Aaron/Soh from losing in such a disappointing manner. 11-3 lead and still could not convert.

Had to agree on this. If they keep losing on early rounds like this, critics will go on and believe that them winning the world champ was purely luck.

Losing 7-21 in the first game is really disappointing. Imagine being the fans who keep paying expensive to see them to play like that. Waste of time and money.

    Rexy:
"However, in the first game, I was disappointed because they played like it meant nothing, just hitting the shuttle and hoping for mistakes from the other side."

"f we look at the first game, they looked like a pair with no soul. They were just playing with no clear direction..."

"You must have a sense of responsibility...have to show the desire to win. Even in defeat, you must be able to command respect."

Watching their games. It's true that the stars somehow aligned during the WC. Or maybe it's just smtg with them playing well at Tokyo (Olympic Bronze and WC Gold)

They're world class, but I'll rather bet my money on rankireddy/shetty
