well its about time for her to let other players shine...i was hoping that zhang jiewen to win this tournament and still be a revelation to team china that their tandem is still hard to beat! Her partner yang wei seems doesnt like to partner with zhao tingting, yang wei played half hearted when she's with tingting, while with jiewen she's seems to play great!!!good thing they are back!

well of course she have reason to smile about because obviously she seem to have an injury that why she lost...better have lost because there's a valid reason rather than to have lost but you give all your 100%!That seems to be OK with her!I know she will be back better than ever...its really hard to play when you dont feel that well your game most likely will be affected...All her final games ended on 2 sets its very unlikely for her...Its the 1st time I saw her having taped heavily including her right foot...

And mixed doubles competition is getting fierce with two excellent Indonesia pairs also eying for Olympic gold. The disadvantage of the two capable pairs from China is Gao Ling and Xie Chongbo are both playing two events so can be very tiring deep into the round.

Why doesn't LYB just let Gao Ling play mixed doubles and not women's doubles? There seems to be many capable women's doubles pairs in China already. If Gao Ling focuses on mixed doubles maybe she'll be able to do better and not be injured or exhausted.

Maybe Gao ling wants to play both...You know she's a champ and she knows she can win on it both...but maybe in bejing olympics I think LYB will not allow her to play both...

I also think LYB will ask her to concentrate on XD in Beijing next year if he wants to take all 5 golds. GL was not doing well lately in both WD and XD.

    Agree :p
Anyway who can beat Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen, Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen or Du Jing/Yu Yang then?
Maybe can pair up Huang Sui with Zhao Tingting?
China has so many good WD player.
Even Lee Kyung-won/Lee Hyo-jung and Greysia Polii/Vita Marissa will have hard time to beat them

Agree. Beating one is hard enough, beating all 3 is almost like mission impossible. ;)

We shall see how Lily-Vita and Greysia-Jo will perform in the up-and-coming tournaments... ;) INA WD have shown signs of life. During the mid to late 1990s, INA's Lili Tampi-Finarsih and Eliza-Zelin were competitive and even got the World #1 spot [from time to time... :p]

I agree that INA lady team was shine in 90's. That's why they took the UC and gave the CHN lady army such a hard time. Glad to see the INA ladies coming back to force again. It will make the events to be more interesting. ;)

No more Greysia/Vita pairing from now on

Let's see...in the China Masters Super Series 2007, Vita/Butet have beaten Pan Pan/Tian Qing (the best second team WD pair China has currently), Du Jing/Yu Yang (who have beaten Wei Yili/Zhang Yawen in the QF), and finally Yang Wei/Zhao Tingting (who have beaten Gao Ling/Huang Sui also in the QF). Apart from these Chinese pairs, Vita/Butet also beat Ogura/Shiota (bronze medallist in the WC) and Wong/Chin (also a top 10 pairing). So, they do have the capability of beating the top Chinese pairs

In OG08 with a max of 3 and nationality separation, any non-CHN WD only need to beat max of 2 CHN WD , so upset is possible.
