Sara Khan claims National Junior Badminton KARACHI: National badminton champion Sara Khan of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) defeated Palwasha of WAPDA to win the under-19 event, when she beat her opponent in the final of the 2nd National Bank National Junior Badminton Championship, played in Faisalabad the other day. The tournament was played at the Al-Fateh Sports Complex and organised by the Faisalabad Badminton Association (FBA). Sara won by a 21-15 21-18 21-9. In the under-19 boys category final, Murad Ali Khan of NWFP beat Zaran Ghazali of Sindh by 21-18 and 21-17. The other results were: Under-19 boys doubles: Taimur and Owais Zahid (Punjab) beat Irfan Khan and Arsalan Khan (Punjab) 21-17 21-14. Under-16 girls doubles: Mehwish and Moonisha (Sindh) beat Humaira and Sama (Sindh) 21-19 21-17. Under-19 girls doubles: Sara Khan and Mahrukh Eesa (NBP) beat Palwasha and Zoya (WAPDA) 21-18 19-12 19-18. Under-16 girls singles: Aqsa Razzaq (Punjab) beat Amana Khan (Sindh) 21-16 21-19. Under-16 boys singles: Arsalan (Punjab) beat Taimur Ahmed (Railways) 21-19 18-21 21-19. The winners were handed over Rs 3,000 each as cash awards plus trophies while the runners-up got Rs 1,500 each in addition to their trophies.
From Jawapos.co.id, PBSI decided to send Pia Zebadiah and Febby Angguni and there will be some selection among others....Question: If PBSI knows that Pia cheated her age..why did they decide to send ehr anyway???
The limit age is the players who born in 1989, not considered the month. I don't think Pia will be sent here although she registered born in January 1989.
I just checked: Lius Pongoh, the Head of Achievement Development [Kepala Bidang Pembinaan Prestasi] plans to do forensic tests on Pia. Last time in the Asian Junior Championship, Pia gave all sorts of reasons to avoid the pre-emptive test [performed first by PBSI]. Thus Lius decided not send her... because if she fails the tests done by BWF, that will bring shame to INA. Now... Pia wants to compete at the World Junior Championship... Lius still insist that she do the test before going... We shall see what will happen next...
It is better that we are honest..whats the point to send her then wins but her age is over 19....time to clean up this age cheating...
Exactly! This festering age-cheating problem is one of the reasons INA is not producing enough top stars as adults... The good up and coming players who cannot cheat [most probably Chinese Indonesians who are required to have the complete set of Kartu Keluarga, Bukti Kewarganegaraan, K-1, etc.] were eliminated by the age-cheating-players who are 2 or 3 years older [as Juniors]... and never made it to the National Team...
In Kompas today, they have convicted 5 players that has cheated their age for KU-16..,,( they were supposed to take part at Badminaon Asian Juniors under 16 in Hanoi) The penalty will be 6 months for those players. The players are: Tunggul Mursito ( Aufa Jakarta) Fajar Ari ( Jaya Raya) Subhan Hassan ( Jaya raya) Fabian Faskal ( Djarum) Anas Canggih ( Tangkas jakarta)
I was informed that Pia is undegoing forensic test today. As for Fabian Faskal, Fung Permadi said that Faskal was immediately expelled from Djarum due to this incident...

Malaysia set to play China in World Junior semis thestar online PETALING JAYA: Malaysia are expected to lock horns with China in the semi-finals of the mixed team competition of the World Junior Championships, which will be held in Auckland from Oct 25-Nov 4. In the draw released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) yesterday, Malaysia are in Group D1 with South Africa and Bulgaria. Group D2 comprise Thailand, Turkey, Czech Republic and Puerto Rico. The Group D champions will play against the Group C winners in the semi-finals. The other semi-final is expected to be between defending champions and top seeds South Korea and Indonesia. Last year, South Korea defeated China 3-2 in the final in Incheon. Malaysia beat Indonesia 3-1 to finish third. The groupings Group A1: South Korea, United States, Mongolia. I just got confirmation from PBSI's National Team: Pia passed her forensic test in INA. She will compete at the Junior World Championships. Well, after all the rumors and accusations of Pia cheating her age, I hope she can also pass BWF's age test...
