Let me bump up this thread again Rian/Yoke's potential opponents in the Vietnam Open 2007: R32 vs a qualifying pair -- a breeze. R16 vs Kwon Yi Go/Ko Sung Hyun -- KOR pair is as always a tricky one to face, however, Rian/Yoke should also face no problem with this one. QF vs either Chew Choon Eng/Hong Chieng Hun or Chan Hun Ping/Chan Peng Soon -- tough match for Rian/Yoke, but, I think they will take care of either pair. They have beaten Chew/Hong earlier in the Phil Open in straight sets. SF vs possibly Gan Teik Chai/Lin Woon Fui -- the MAS pair is the strongest one in their quarter and Rian/Yoke will be severely tested in the SF. It will be a step up if they can beat this MAS pair. Let's aim for SF first..... As for Rendra/Fran: R32 vs Nitipong Saengsila/Kovit Phisetsarasai -- a tricky match, but, shouldn't be a problem. R16 vs Hui Wai Ho/Alroy Tanama Putra -- a match against the 3rd seed possibly as early as R16 and it will be a test of their credential. QF vs possibly Kang Myeong Won/Cho Gun Woo -- a KOR pair is likely to be the next obstacle if they clear the second round. Also a potentially tough match. SF vs possibly Bona Septano/Mohd Ahsan or Chan Choong Ming/Hoon Thien How (top-seed) -- if they can reach SF, then either Bona/Ahsan or the top seed (if they still go) will likely be their opponent.
LOL anne just asked me how to pronounce the names: rian sukmawan and yonathan suryatama dasuki.. damn funny!!! hahahaha!!! anyway, they won tonight! g'luck!
rian is doing fine.. staying at the official hotel at odense congress center.. just won his match.. tomorrow facing alvent/luluk.. faint.
Yup, they had a kind draw and that saw them winning their first SS match. Up next, Luluk/Alvent in a winnable match. I am sure Krisna will be cheering for Rian/Yoke until his voice is hoarse. Today: vs Luluk/Alvent Tomorrow: possibly vs Kido/Hendra -- chance to take on the 2 best pairs in Pelatnas!
Rian/Yoke's 6 consecutive victory over the past week have boosted their ranking. They surely have 5000 + 3600 pts addition by next week, which will see them rise up from no 62 to somewhere between 40-50. If they can beat Luluk/Alvent today, it will be an additional 1440 pts and will see them placed somewhere in the top 40. A very good progress indeed!
Awesome ya! I also followed Rian's progress when he became the #8 pair on Earth with Eng Hian. That was also fun... I think Rian-Yoke can repeat that feat [sometime late next year laaah]... Frankly, Rian is a stable and reliable player, Yoke's form will determine their performance tonight agains Luluk-Alven... If Yoke is in form, then they have a very good shot at going to the Quarterfinals... Yoke has plenty of fantastic shotmaking skills seldom seen in top-level badminton... But he has the focus and judgement of an inexperienced top-pro... takes too much unnecessary risks and sometimes forgot that he has to win first, look good later...
Hendra Setiawan is probably the calmest MD player we have so far. Wondering what happens if we pair Hendra with Rian And pair Kido with Yoke.....
My friend went to watch MD matches last night.. She said Rian/Yoke are really like WOW.. played so well! Young and powerful! But that they look a bit like teenagers.. LMAO..
Rian-Yoke defeated Luluk-Alven to reach the Denmark Open Super Series QF... They are starting to fulfill their destiny to become the next INA MD superstar... At least be the INA #2 pair first laaah... They are young, they are explosive, they are talented and have lots of room for growth! Together with Kido-Hendra, they will be in the top-level badminton scene for the next 5 years [I think]... And a contender for the 2012 Olympic medal....
Yup.. seriously looking forward to see their match tomorrow!!! First time I will watch them live in hall.. Hahahaha
Definitely a contender for the 2009 World Championships. Since Kido/Hendra have already won a WC title, I will be rooting for Rian/Yoke to go far. But first, win a GP Gold and SS title first
