    Yes, Kido & Setiawan..

..are the defending China Open's MD champions, as they prevailed over Fu & Cai in last yr's Finals. And yes, Kido & Setiawan are also the defending HK Open champions, winning over CTF & LWW;):

Zakry, Fairuz, TBinShen/OngSC are competing in China and Hong Kong Open. They passed the selection trials. Gan/Lin lost both matches in selection so they wont get to go for these 2 SS.
Rexy started selection trials for SS. KKK/TBH and CTF/LWW get automatic places cos their world ranking is highest. But if they do badly, they also have to go for selection. SO far, they did ok - winner Denmark, runner-up France.

Gan/Lin are sent to Vietnam Open and SEA Games (early Dec).

Yup, and if they don't get service faulted again like in the China Masters, Kido/Setiawan might just rise again ....

I remember Kido-Hendra was the best MD on Earth for a couple of months leading up to the 2006 Asian Games [very late in 2006]... that's when we all saw the amazing rise of KKK-TBH... Now the world MD is really up for grabs... Maybe only DEN is declining here... MAS, CHN, and INA all have good chances to grab the 2008 Olympic Gold...

LCW will only take part in one.

According to XBall, LCW is now unbeatable. If he is right, then no problems for him. But we'll see...

Yes, DEN has declined a lot. ENG has declined as well. CHN has remained stagnant. MAS, INA and KOR are rising.

Yet, neither MAS, INA or CHN top pairs are consistent enough to be a clear leader. But at least MAS and INA had the benefit of their aged pairs' 2nd wind.

Wish Kido/Setiawan can bring their 1st SS title from this tournament to prove their world champ status. Last year, they were so superb in China -- winner of China Open, Hongkong Open and Invitational World Cup. No doubt, world #1 KKK/TBH is the hardest opponent for them en route to defend the title!

Based on drawing CHN will represented by their primary and new talent players in all division. Seems the Great Wall has top ambition, once again eager to realize clean-sweep here after failed in Cheng Du last July that unpredictable INA stole WD title. Who will stop China brigade this time? MD as CHN weakest sector opens big opportunity for others to grab it.

Don't forget Japan. They havent won strings of titles but KKK/TBH and other Malaysian pairs have been beaten by them in important events.
