It will be an interesting afternoon, with matches starting at 2pm local time.

    MEN'S SINGLES
Taufik Hidayat [1] vs Nguyen Tien-Minh -- should be Taufik's to lose....but Tien-Minh deserves a bronze medal for his good effort his year.

Boonsak Ponsana [3] vs Kendrick Lee Yen Hui -- Kendrick took down 2 good players in the past two days. Tomorrow's match against Boonsak will be another classic hopefully, with the crowds cheering for the home player. Boonsak has the edge.

    MEN'S DOUBLES
Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [1] vs Gan Teik Chai/Lin Woon Fui [4] -- a rematch of the Macau Open QF in which the Malaysian nearly won. Kido/Hendra beat the Thai pair in straight sets today and it will not be easy as always against Malaysian pair

Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Hendra Wijaya [3] vs Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi [2] -- should be a cracking match and AG/Joko will have their hands full tomorrow. A 50-50 match...and I am leaning towards the Singapore pair.

    WOMEN'S SINGLES
Adriyanti Firdasari vs Soratja Chansrisukot -- Firda did well in beating Li Li today. Does she still have the energy to beat the home player?

Julia Wong Pei Xian vs Maria Kristin Yulianti [2] -- Maria should win this one.

    WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia [1] vs Vita Marissa/Liliyana Natsir [4] -- an interesting match is in store and Vita/Butet have the edge.

Duang-Anong Arunkesorn/Kunchala Voravitchitchaikul [3] vs Jo Novita/Greysia Polii -- Jo/Greysia should advance to the Final.

    MIXED DOUBLES
Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir [1] vs Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam [3] (MATCH OF THE DAY) -- the MOTD tomorrow...recent matchups between the two pairs is 1-1. The key is to contain Sudket.

Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Li Yujia [4] vs Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa [2] -- another tricky match...but Flandy/Vita should hold the edge.

    MEN'S SINGLES
Taufik Hidayat [1] vs Nguyen Tien-Minh -- err, should I really vote for Taufik? I mean, he has lost to Tien-Minh before, you know .... Ah, what the heck, Taufik needs to show his daughter that he can be no 1. :D

Boonsak Ponsana [3] vs Kendrick Lee Yen Hui -- Boonsak has the edge, check. He has the support, check. He also has the pressure, having won World Uni Games at home soil, check. Kendrick and his newfound "flagpole bearing" strength might just pull off a wonderful upset here ....... :)

    MEN'S DOUBLES
Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan [1] vs Gan Teik Chai/Lin Woon Fui [4] -- a rematch of the Macau Open QF in which this time, there will be no mercy to the Malaysians. Gan/Lin are not in the best of form this week, hard to see them even keeping the scores close.

Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Hendra Wijaya [3] vs Hendra A. Gunawan/Joko Riyadi [2] -- A much closer match than the 1st semifinal, Gunawan/Riyadi really need to step out of their teammates shadow. Saputra/Wijaya will enjoy the same advantage as Kendrick, and with quite a few prized scalps (mostly Malaysian), they have the ability to make it an international final.

    WOMEN'S SINGLES
Adriyanti Firdasari vs Soratja Chansrisukot -- I will give this to Firda just because Krisna needs to see her smile :D, but wouldn't be surprised if Soratja decides to exact revenge on her team semis defeat. Still quite a tall order for the Thai, her technical skills are not as good yet.

Julia Wong Pei Xian [4] vs Maria Kristin Yulianti [2]-- This one I can't predict. Julia had been unbeaten all week, Maria had shown some vulnerabilities against Li Li. But with a 2-1 head-to-head record, the slightest of advantages is for the Indonesian. Too close to call.

    WOMEN'S DOUBLES
Jiang Yanmei/Li Yujia [1] vs Vita Marissa/Liliyana Natsir [4] -- In my opinion, the gulf in class between these two pairs are quite far.

Duang-Anong Arunkesorn/Kunchala Voravitchitchaikul [3] vs Jo Novita/Greysia Polii -- All INA final not in doubt, unless Jo or Greysia get injured again.

    MIXED DOUBLES
Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir [1]vs Sudket Prapakamol/Saralee Thoungthongkam [3] (MATCH OF THE DAY) -- the MOTD tomorrow as badMania said...and this time I pick the Thais in 3 close games, the difference being the crowd support. The World Champions will really be worth their salt if they can prove me wrong in a "relatively hostile" environment.

Hendri Kurniawan Saputra/Li Yujia [4] vs Flandy Limpele/Vita Marissa [2] -- a more straightforward victory for Indonesia, I pick Flandy/Vita for the title.

    Yeah.. Hopes so too.
It will be very tough game for Sudket as they havent been put into any challenge before the semis.. A test of mental strength for them as they will be The ONLY last hopes of Thailand to win a sole Gold medal in Badminton here.. I do not think Soratja / Boonsak will be able to upset the INA

As I am Vietnamese, when I was young, Nguyen Tien Minh seemed to be my favourite advanced badminton player and nowaday, so does he... in the latest match between them,Minh has won against Taufik but it is only statistic which is always used to appreciate.... and no more....
Will it have the same result like the latest time they met... nobody knows.......I has watched Minh's match against Thailand player... It was the intensive and not easy for him to win..... but his goal was to beat his opponent and bring glories not only for his nation but also for all Vietnamese audiences will be waiting for his steps in his career.....
go go Nguyen Tien Minh..... You are Vietnam's pride.......

Yes I like Firda's smile and I think against Soratja, she has a terrific chance! I am 90% sure we will see a Firda-Maria Kristin final... :D

Although the official target of our Indonesian Sea Games officials is: 4 golds from badminton... [and we have 2 already]... I think realistically we can expect 5 golds with a good chance to get 6 golds, and Indonesians will be extremely jubilant if we can sweep 7 golds! :p Perhaps plus around 3-4 silvers too... =)

The Indonesian public cannot stand 9 bronzes from badminton... That's a national disaster! :p We are pretty demanding... either gold or not... Sort of like Brazil in soccer... Most countries [including Indonesia and the Philippines] would be happy to finish as semifinalists of the Soccer World Cup, but not Brazil... they will be considered dire loosers if they don't win the World Cup... :p:eek:

The reason why Taufik almost lost to YKB is this, from Suara Merdeka newspaper (sorry, don't have time to translate). I bet this story will repeat in the Semi and Final, as far as he proceeds (it has happened when he played Boonsak in the team event).. so, wait for the drama. He might even go so far to leave the court in the middle of the match, even if that means he would have to say goodbye to his SG bonus money + possible sanctions, like the HK Open 06 incident. Considering this, 6 golds for INA is a safer bet.

    Salah Duduk
