in order to do so, PBSI must look for an incredibly huge sponsor...btw how come INA government is not sponsoring PBSI anymore?

I would have expected them to lose to Malaysian pairs here....with Koo/Tan and Choong/Lee as possible opponents in SF and F anyway

i wonder how they would fare against KKK/TBH now. it seems a good time to break their duck against them as well.

PJB is from South Korea, not North right? After his contract is finished in Japan, he can go back if he wants to - I mean that's the usual thing. Not familiar with any "political matters" you mean.

i don't know the way they think... imagine how many PBSI can send their players to tournaments if all local governments (pemkot/pemda) support PBSI instead of sponsoring useless football teams

Against the uncles, maybe, if it was AE. KKK/TBH are going thru their 2nd lowest of low periods, dunno, they might not have lasted against your heros.
Fuzzy almost did it, almost only, now must take Korean ginseng also :D.

Perhaps...Flandy/Vita give us that solitary French Open title last year. The last time we won the Swiss Open was in 2005, Candra/Sigit. AE was in 2003 also by the same pair....for Denmark Open...couldn't recall any in the past 5-6 years. As for German Open, Flandy/Eng Hian won that in 2003. They also won the Swiss Open in the same year.

However, we are quite successful in the Dutch Open lately though :D Must be the relationship we had with the Dutch....

Actually... for the past 6 months the government gave quite a sizeable sum of money for PBSI in anticipation for the Olympics... :) No guarantees after that, though... Between 2004-2006, for example, PBSI got nothing from the INA government...

hahaha, i hardly think that'll have any affect. though i do appreciate that it's only a joke.

i suspect it may have something to do with the travelling, being jet lagged and all that. arriving 2 days before a tournament starts is barely enough time to get your body clock to adjust properly, especially if you're scheduled to play late, say 8PM GMT which is something like 5AM in INA.

that's shocking, so who are the main sponsors of PBSI if the govt decides not to contribute anything? i would have thought it would get good support given it's probably the 2nd most popular sport after football.

Oh, that's because badminton in INA is not set-up to "defend the region's honor" like the local football clubs... :p Anyway, today the local government cannot fund their local football clubs anymore... :p

The head of PBSI's main role is to get funds. Thus the head is almost always a powerful government official [like Sutiyoso, this time around]. As the governor of Jakarta, Sutiyoso will coerce the Jakarta real estate developers to give him a total of Rp 20 billion every year... [otherwise, no real-estate licenses for them]
