Mine is 'malayali'. I am from a place called Kerala in India. We speak malayalam & the malayalam speaking folks are called malayalis; Hence the nick-name 'malayali'...... Kerala is a very beautiful place on the south-west coast of India with full of beaches & back waters & greenery on one side and mountains on the other side.
It could also have been Malay-Ali Kerala is called 'God's Own Country'. A magnificent blend of ocean, backwaters, hills and greenery. It has one of the highest literacy rates in the world. In essence, it's a part of India so unlike the rest of India. Well, nothing romantic in my nick. I'm an old hand - so, Oldhand
There's this shot that I used to play more often than others (largely due to the fact that I was ALWAYS getting caught flat-footed and FREQUENTLY back-paddling) My game is much less one-dimensional these days (or at least I HOPE it is) I still play a lot of punch-clears, though...
isn't punch clear something goalkeepers do when defending corner kicks? my nick's based on the fact that i like to sleep a lot, hence the abundance of dreamzz ...
"The older you become the more wiser you become". no joking matter, there!! The literacy rate in Kerala is advertised as 100% by the officials but the authenticity is doubtable...
I got mine from a japanese boxing anime "Hajime No Ippo." The main character there is Ippo Makunouchi who at first doesn't know anything about boxing until he became good at it and become a champion. Just like me who doesn't like badminton at first but eventually got hook to it for life.
Here is my guess..... You had given up on badminton(maybe because of an injury) & now you are back, taking badminton seriously!!!
sometimes i do, sometimes i don't .... not that it matters really. i did have a couple of recurring dreams, but that was a long time ago.
I got my BC nick name from my own name.. J = James / Jim Hirata = my family name :X. Some of my friends already figured out that I'm a member here at BC.. Too obvious.. now they're replying to my whatever BC comments, at school. Oh well. At some other forums, my user name is always 'Yonex'. But since this is a badminton forum, the name 'yonex' is obviously taken. :O
Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding!!!! Excellent guess! I started playing again after about 11 years of break. I took a break not because of injury -but because of family commitments. I got married and my dad's health started to go down hill. My brother, sister and me all took turn to take care of him. He passed away last year. Now I have a window of opportunity to play again while my mom is still healthy. Believe it or not, my dad was a hard core badminton player. It was all wooden rackets back then and outdoor court too. There was not a single indoor court. That's how I started. I was on and off thru out. But, I played at least 3 times a week around 94, 95, 96. Started to wind down in 97. I started to play about a month ago after long break just for fitness. Believe it or not, I couldn't recognize some of the guys that I used to played with. Some of them didn't recognize me either. We all aged. I like to play twice a week. But, I can only make it there once a week so far. It is hard with little kids. I have to help with their homework. They want to play with me after I come home from work. So, I have to do all of those fun stuff before I can go to play badminton. I think Kuan was still at CMU when I first visited BC. I remember reading it somewhere here on BC back then. Anyway, now you know the things behind the screen name

A long time ago, playing against a state player. He allow the game to start giving me 14 points against him 0. He allow to to start first. When I serve high to him, he try to smash and the shuttle went out. I won 15-0.
