    Chris@ccc, thanks for the partial list of negative words, which answered my first question. But my other two questions are still waiting to be answered when you find time.

    Sorry for answering other peoples questions....

    but "shut up you XXX" is always insulting... Whatever word you put in there. ("shut up you weird man").
    The insulting/dehumanising part is almost always the words said before/after the degoratory term, the words that set the tone of the message

    The other 2 questions were answered as;
    Btw, I have always thought that LYB is always doing good for China in Badminton. :):):)

    I also felt sorry that DinkAlot has unsubscribed from this thread. :(:(:(

    Chris@ccc, you still did not answer my questions 2 and 3. Just give Yes or No answers. What the poster thought is different from what you think. And your comments cited on the top had nothing to do with my third question. He called LYB 'pest' before other BCers were even involved.

    Nobody can hurt me without my permission

    .
    IMHO...

    (1) The word "Chinaman" could not be banned @BC (as said by many BCers here).
    (2) The phrase "shut up la..Chinaman!" could not be deemed as an insult (within the context in that thread).
    (3) The words 'evil' and 'pest' could not be banned @BC (LYB will be laughing at us). :D:D:D

    Again, we are to repeat Oldhand's post;
    Cheers... chris@ccc

    Thanks for answering my second question. What about my third question: "(3) Was calling LYB 'Evil' or 'pest' an insult? In other words, is it okay to dehumanize another baddy person in BC forum?" Please just give me 'Yes' or 'No' answer. I did not ask about banning the words 'Evil' and 'pest' in my question, did I?

    It is an insult, but certainly not de-humanizing. You are getting a bit carried away here, Birdwood.

    You are entitled to your opinion. I will disagree with you on a statement that "Calling a fellow baddy human being as 'Evil' and 'pest' is not dehumanizing him". But, at least we agree that 'it is an insult'. Thank you.

    LYB has a job to do !!!

    .
    We will need to ask LYB to answer this question. :):):)

    But if someone is to call me a pest... I would reply "It's OK, you can say what you think". :D:D:D

    I answered that just after you asked it. Just because it is an insult does not mean it should be banned, of course. Far from it.

    I think you are correct here about insulting and offensive words. But you are not for censorship, I can see your point of free speech. However, 'fights' will broke out when insults are made, some of these insults will be all the same and will be repeated over and over. What do you think the BC forum should do? What do you think each BCer should do in dealing with those insults?

    Chris@ccc, LYB is not involved in BC, but we are. Please take a stand on the issue like everyone else. It may not be insulting to you if you were called that. But the question is about another baddy person and if it's an insult or okay to call him 'Evil' or 'pest'? If you don't want to answer my third question cited above, please simply say so.

    We can only be insulted if we want ourselves to be insulted !!!

    .
    My answer to your Question 3 is... NO. :eek::eek::eek:

    IMHO... We can only be insulted if we want ourselves to be insulted. :(:(:(

    Sorry, I missed it because things were deleted in the first item and I got distracted.

    Now I can see why you are against banning certain offensive words. Free speech for one, turning the other cheek (ignoring) is another. That's fine with me if that's what you want. But as a whole, is that what majority of BCers should be doing: "Turn the other cheek"? Many will disagree with you with that approach.

    Chris@ccc, I want to thank you again, my friend for the answer. It's fine with me whatever you say, it's all for discussions and understanding. So I just want to make sure that in your opinion: It is okay to call another baddy person in BC forum with "negative words" like 'Evil' and 'pest'. Yes, it's okay or No, it's not okay, what is your answer?

    *sigh*

    ..*sigh*..i think at the end of the day, the tasks of banning of members or deleting posts or censorshipping certain words/phrases should be handled by the mods and kwun. That's the bottom line. In a nutshell, they are the ones responsible for this forum and whether we like it or not, we as reg. members can only abide by the rules. The most we can do, as BC members, is to respect the rules and report anything that seems inappropriate to the mods and kwun. Nothing more and nothing less...:cool:
    On another hand, the mods and kwun have a challenging task of trying to keep the forum as neutral and user friendly yet still keep the idea of free-speech abound as much as possible (they themselves must stay neutral in all of the discussions). Again, it's that middle line......:cool:

    I think we've read enough point of views and different perspectives on this topic and after so much pages of posts, i don't know if we have come to a mutual and compromising solution or not (maybe we have). And as others have mentioned, we are simply turning the wheel of this thread around and around...........where to end??..:confused:

    anyway...i don't know about Birdwood, but if i was in his spot and after reading some of the posts, i would scratch my head, think and say to myself "Why in the world did i start this thread??"...:p :D:)

    *feel free to continue discussing, folks..:)
