I am surprise to see his name too as he has been in-active for quite sometime? Is he making a comeback?

well, i don't think his current form should be used to measure his luck of the draw. i would say, for a 3rd seed, his path to the semis is pretty good.

Surely, Taufik is plain unlucky to have drawn Anup as his first opponent.

On current form, it'd be surprising if Taufik got past anyone in the draw, much less Anup who's beaten him convincingly not too long ago.

The name Tanongsak should ring a loud and recent bell ;)

Allan Tai was once Malaysia back-up players about 5-6 years ago. It is during James Chua badges.

still. boonsak IS a good player. no denying that fact. and i think there will be more motivation for him since he is defending the SO title. (though of course, susilo has the home crowd). in all objectivity, casting national loyalty aside, i personally think boonsak has more talent than susilo.

i think that this match is going to be the most exciting out of all the first round matches. even more than taufik vs anup. can't wait.

Yup, Anup is potential threat for TH at first round since the Indian player had downed him with rubber sets in last year World Championship.

    Jonassen withdraws from Singapore

According to danish federation home page Jonassen has pulled out of Singapore Open: http://www.badminton.dk/Nyheder/Nyhedsarkiv%202008/Maj%202008/Jonassen%20melder%20fra%20til%20Singapore.aspx

    Translated version:
Kenneth Jonassens back injury forces the danish star to withdraw from Singapore Open. The Super Series tournament is being played in the beginning of June.

The danish players injury occured at the world championships (Thomas Cup) in Indonesia and meant that Kenneth didn't play in the deciding match against Korea. Since he got back home Jonassen has been recieving intense treatment by physiotherapist Martin Baun and has accordingly trained easily to build up his form again. - I'm not going to Singapore. It wouldn't really make sense when I haven't been training for 14 days, says Jonassen. - I'm not in need of tournaments and it has helped a lot on my back to have a week off. So there is no reason to force the training just to be able to play in Singapore.

But one thing is the rational decision, the irrational feeling of wanting to go is something else. Singapore is a tournament with a special place in Kenneths heart: - I won Singapore in 2004 as the first european ever. That's my biggest win to date. That's why I would like to go back to say goodbye. Also when I see the draw, it really makes me want to play, says the experienced player, who now misses his last chance of reclaiming the title. Kenneth Jonassen will stop his international career after Denmark Open in octobre.

With KJ absence, automatically Arvind Bhat will be promoted into main draw. So many top-10 MS player miss this SS, only three remain here LCW,TH and Peter Gade.
