Pia 6-2 7-2 7-3 8-3 8-4 8-5 9-5 9-6 10-6 11-6. Wow. The inspiring performance @ UC must have boasted a great deal of confidence for INA ladies.
chris@ccc, are these guessings or predictions based on rankings? Your so-called predictions yesterday was terrible. Allow me to give some reasons here: (1) 2:40pm : Hongyan PI [1] (FRA) vs Firdasari ADRIANTI (INA) (2) 3:05pm : Chen WANG [3] (HKG) vs Pia Zebadiah BERNADET (INA) The INA gals performed well during UC last month and both have chances to upset the seeded players. (3) 3:20pm : Anna RICE (CAN) vs Tine RASMUSSEN [2] (DEN) Tine is the clear favorite. (4) 3:40pm : Juan GU (SIN) vs Saina NEHWAL (IND) Gu surprised everyone by knocking down Yippie in 2 easy games yesterday and I think she can continue her gallant run today. (5) 4:00pm : Mi ZHOU [5] (HKG) vs Petya NEDELCHEVA (BUL) Zhou Mi was struggling and stretched to 3 games by Salakjit yesterday and this will be another potential upset. (6) 4:20pm : Hye Youn HWANG (KOR) vs Soo Young JANG (KOR) Hwang won in AE 2005 in their only encounter. I would expect Hwang to prevail again. (7) 7:00pm : Aiying XING (SIN) vs Tracey HALLAM [7] (ENG) With local support, this again will be another potential upset. (8) 8:05pm : Lin WANG (CHN) vs Mew Choo WONG [4] (MAS) Wang Lin leads Wong Mew Choo 2:1 in terms of head-to-head with Wang beating Wong at ABC 2 months ago.
I was very impressed by Firda's game during UC. Her game style is very aggressive, albeit error-prone, but with more experience and exposure, I can see a bright future for Firda. Firda 13-10
PHY just forced a rubber against Firda after winning a close 2nd game 22-20. Meanwhile, WC regains the lead at 17-12 after trailing 9-11 during the 2nd game interval.
Rijal/Polii down to Dane pair Bonde/Nielsen, 18-21 ; 18-21. Nova/Lilyana become the only one XD pair remains from INA camp.
