I would like to buy myself a knee support. Since I have never bought one before, I would want to ask for your opinion. Which brand do you think produces the best knee support and has a reasonable price? I saw Taufik wearing a black yonex knee support but I have never seen it in stores. I tried google too but I can't find it. Any idea? Maybe its a different brand with yonex logo printed on it? What about phiten? Is phiten a good brand? The price of a knee support is scary though. Rm400+ for one. And does nike sell a short knee support? All I see are those super long ones. Thanks in advance.
May i know the reason you want to use knee support?? Ligament issues? Joint pains? Just a precaution? LP has some good products and reasonable prices. I bought a couple of it. You can find them in Jaya Jusco or Guardian Pharmacy's.
Used to have joint pains. Now I would like to use them just to protect my joints lah. Don't wanna suffer the pain again. About how much for one?
Hi, There is not too much help for joint pain due to the lost of the "gel" between bones.. (Pain cause by bone againest bone.) But for jumper's pain. (due to muscle pull when jump) the best way is just use a strap.
sorry, not meant to hijack the thread. Speaking of strap, will strap also help cramp? When I play long game (4 or more sets of 21points) and I move alot, I often get cramp on my leg (not sure the name, it show Gastrocnemius on http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Gray1240.png) will strap on that part of muscle help to reduce chance of cramp?
A strap is to help tendon pain by diffusing the force from the muscles. Braces support joints by reinforcing stability in cases of muscle imbalance or ligament strain. Most store bought sleeves will do little to help a big joint like a knee if there is something seriously wrong. But it can give a little support. There are also certain braces that are to help keep your kneecap sliding properly in-line. All this to say, you should never push a joint too far. Seek advice form doc, or physio. If in doubt, don't play on a suspect joint.
If you start to feel knee pain then rest is the best option. Continuing to play will only damage the knee further.
knee strap- well even after a short rest u may have to accept a fact is that a person bodily cell/ muscle takes time to heal. being playing like twenty years and as such the pounding of feet exerted on knee will be utmost concern. cartillage worn out n muscle strains ..so its better to have knee strap to keep this problem at bay...the lunging, lateral movement n smashing will exert a certain stress. Straps in a way keeps ur in check(tighter) always...
I still don't get it.. aren't those two things 'supposed' to be helping me out? Haha. I can't stand the pain. After playing for an hour or so without any problems, I can't sit down. My knees would hurt like hell if I try. And if I did, I can't lunge without pain.
These are signs that you really should have a professional examine the knee, before relying on a store bought-brace (with yonex symbol or not).
pain among my group a few of us on permanently strap on even with slightest pain...In fact 1 player among us is in deep knee pain which side lined him from playing vigorously.( Nowadays just plays 2 sets) Me starting to get lite left knee pain n right knee cap slight in position when squat down.(like slide cap).
Kubuk, What is your age and how often do you play? My advise is just go to GH, get the sports injury doctor to have a look and follow the physio schedule. At least you will know the cause for the knee pains.
Haha. I am 16. I train probably 1-2 times in a week, play about 3-4 days in a week too. By GH, do you mean general hospital? I am fearing that I might need surgery you know..
