Some say that it is a disaster/failure if INA team get only 1 title here in JO. They may right, but success is not only about winning the tournament. INA's (also MAS, DEN, CHN, JPN, GBR) young players did a great job this time, even if they lose, at least they've showed us that they 'can do it'. You go guys!!

Ah, but I will cheer for Wong and Chin, and PAW on the young CHN pair without guilty feeling.

    A win-win situation ...... :D

Predictions: Champions at the Japan Badminton Open 2008

    .
:D:D:D Only predicted with 60% accuracy...

So, making it to the FINALS, we now have:
    4 from [INA]
    2 from [CHN]
    2 from [MAS]
    1 from [DEN]
    1 from [HKG]

See how my predictions for the winners would turn out to be:
MS Chong Wei LEE [MAS] [1]
    WS Mi ZHOU [HKG] [7]
MD Lars PAASKE & Jonas RASMUSSEN [DEN] [2]
WD Eei Hui CHIN & Pei Tty WONG [MAS] [4]
    XD
Nova WIDIANTO & Liliyana NATSIR [INA] [1]

    Therefore, the champions could be:
    2 from [MAS]
    1 from [DEN]
    1 from [HKG]
    1 from [INA]

GOOD LUCK to all our Finalists !!!

    :):):)

    ^^We missed your presence, George..^^

..did you watch LCW's match on the tube??..or you already knew LCW would really take it on Joachim??..;)..
..oh my, are you predicting ZERO titles for CHN, this time around, chris@ccc????..:eek:...Wow, if so, that'll be a first in a very long time we won't have any winners from CHN...:p
Btw, the 1 title by INA would be considered a "shortcoming", esp. after how many of their players actually made it to the QF round...:p;)

Japan Open 2008: ZM [HKG} and CEH/WPT [MAS] are playing exceptionally well

    .
:D:D:D Yes ... I am predicting nothing for CHN at this 2008 Japan Open.

It is not because that the younger CHN players are hopeless, but it is because ZM [HKG} and CEH/WPT [MAS] are playing exceptionally well at this JO 2008.

It is also because the seniors are either not there (WD) or failed to show leadership (Zhu Lin/Lu Lan).

Zhu Lin as world champ has not been able to win titles consistently after her victory (except INA Open, and she almost lost that too) must ponder why she should be kept in the squad. A plethora of non-CHN players can beat her now, it's not rocket science to figure out how.

Similarly, Lu Lan seemed happy to avenge her defeat to Maria, that she didn't fully prepare for the next round. Zhou Mi, out of the CHN squad and in the wilderness for 3 years, is still too good for her.

If any of the junior WS and WD win today, the seniors will be pressured to show reason why they are still needed. Good thing too, I need to see more of Wang Yihan's pretty face ..... :p

For WD, I think the chinese pair is going to win the final. Zhao hits the shuttle really hard (!) and both girls have good shots.

Very importantly, they look hungry for success.

    .
Cheung ... You are correct. It appeared that CS/ZYL were hungrier than CEH/WPT to win their WD FINAL.
