Wow, surprise surprise, CHN has a new young WS star in Wang Yihan. She could well be the next Zhang Ning...

meanwhile, Zhou Mi looks like an aunty here, no offence

    Looking fw to seeing them..

...sure, we'd be happy to see them.:)
*For posting pics, make sure the pics fall under the 680x460 size, thus you might have to re-size/crop them. Then to upload them, you'll see a horizontal button, called "Manage Attachments" (when you're in typing mode). Click, and off you go with attaching those pics. If possible, you can post the pics in the "Japan Open Photos" thread.

Final result of Japan SS 2008 : INA grabbed two (XD, MS), 2 titles for CHN (WS, WD) and MD title won by DEN. Breakthrough performance is created by CHN juniors and Bona Septano/Mohammad Ahsan (BoSan) who enter finale for the first time in SS tournament despite they lost to former World Champion Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen.

Next stop, CHN Masters SS will be tougher for INA players as CHN top-names back in action after OG.

Congrats to the cutes china gals :D
Very good results for a youngster considered she manage to beat the "China WS killer" Tine Rasmussen. And she just being promoted to national first team in 2006.
Credit must be given to her mentor coach : Wang Peng Ren , the former World Champs in XD with Shi Fang Jing. (not sure if many still can remembered them )

Yeah, I remember 'em, Beijing XD World Champs of '87. Kind of short lived careers, though.

Congrats to all winners, especially Wang Yihan and Sony DK. Makes a pretty pair, both of 'em. And as expected, our resident BC forummers Jonas/Lars took home the MD title.

Congrats too to the losing finalists, esp Bona/Ahsan and Wong/Chin. They tried hard but it was just not enough. Could Bona be even better than his famous brother? Time will tell.

Heartbreaking defeat for Wong/Chin, they were the better pair for most of the match if only for lack of concentration in the early stages of the final game. A commendable effort nonetheless and they showed great mental spirit to mount a late fightback. One the younger MAS WD pairs have yet to match.

Congratulation China, INa take 2 titles and Denmark 1 title.

Very sad to say again to home players is Malaysia. Jago Kandang. Still mentality problem plays outside Malaysia.

I would agree on WS, XD and MS, the winners were indeed hungrier.

Not MD and WD, both pairs on court were hungry. But in the end, there can only be one ..... waa, now I'm sounding like The Highlander theme. :p

It was only in the 1980's when Asian players learned to play Mixed Doubles

    .
Talking about Mixed Doubles, in the past the Europeans were always the Champions.

It was only in the 1980's when Asian players like, Christian Hadinata/Imelda Wigoeno [INA], Park Joo-Bong/Chung Myung-Hee [KOR], Lee Deuk-choon/Chung So-young [KOR], Wang Peng-Ren/Shi Fang-Jing [CHN], etc... got to master how to play Mixed Doubles effectively.

Therefore, Wang Peng-Ren/Shi Fang-Jing [CHN] should be well remembered.

    :):):)

Er, is it only me, or there are really some 'voices' that attribute Sony's victory more to LCW's injury rather than his hard effort?:eek::rolleyes:

If I remember correctly, it's stated that his hand are just slightly injured/painful.

It's normal things that when Mas player went down, sure got a lot of excuses.

Datuk Lee again perform ''superbly'' in the final. The result showing No.1 World Ranking Player's standard? Or Datuk Lee is only capable to perform well until semi-final?

I can say that the result produced is lousy, as same in the Beijing Olympic Game.

**Or Datuk Lee dont want the title ''Tun''? (He might be conferred the title ''Tun'' if he win the Japan Open - Gold medallist) Because of that he simply play....

    DATUK LEE BOLEH!!!
