It was good to let LD and CL released their power.. and for me OG MS is between 3 players which you all know.

p/s: LD and LCW like a wine, get better with age.

The conspiracy theories (about Rio MS seedings) are exceedingly strong :D

He must have used the word 'athleticism' about 574,286,545,365 times.
And he kept saying over and over that this is a match to be watched - except that he couldn't stop talking over every rally.

What a way to destroy match audio!
    :(

great performance by LD and CL .

although both are holding back ... they displayed some great rallies ...
I would still say its a 50/50 game if they meet.

Not a straight forward win for LD if both were to all out.

According to the article,Chen Long expressed that in G2 he became a little impetuous, grazing his finger caused him to lose some focus. He added frankly such an injury won't affect his game,"after all I'm playing one of us,if against a foreigner, perhaps more likely to get tense up."

Lin Dan opined that owing to playing several consecutive tournaments, both of them weren't in top form, " everyone is doing their level best to adjust themselves, perform well in every stop, and at the back is the Thomas Cup duty, the burden is quite heavy."

CCTV sport commentator Hong Gang exclaimed that it is really not easy for Lin Dan at his age to still be able to maintain such excellent form. In the latter half of the match , both of them were splendid, Hong Gang praised the final few points were up to Olympic standard. He went on," Such a high standard match, both were very patient, because their defence is very strong, whoever attack first may instead be forced onto the defensive."
[I'm translating only the general comments of Hong Gang, leaving out the on-match technical commentaries of both Gong Weijie and Hong Gang which formed the major part of the article.]

Does anybody has created a thread for Dong Feng Citroen Badminton Asia Championships 2016?
Most of asian top players will be there.
Just realize that TUC 2016 will also be held in China, so 3 tourneys in a row.

Well they're supposed to be top of the class, yet recent tournaments have shown they are not undefeatable. Come Rio everyone has to give his all and upsets are not to be excluded.

Non-China players have improved, quite alarmingly for some, during the interval between the last Olympics and the forthcoming Rio. So the higher ranked players better not take things too lightly or they may find themselves out of the running earlier than expected!

I think LD should know better for as Seed #1 he was knocked out very early in R32 in Athens Olympics 2004, 15-12, 15-10, by unheralded Singaporean Ronald Susilo, who himself lost to Boonsak Ponsana in the QF. Boonsak in turn lost to Taufik Hidayat in the SF who eventually became champion by beating Shon Seung-mo of Korea in the Final, 15-8, 15-7.

Well, that shocking setback for Lin Dan at Athens'04 was a life-changing incident, it marked a turning-point in his life, for instead of fading into obscurity he went on to create history by winning two Olympic golds, five World Championships and a host of other prestigious titles to become widely regarded as the Greatest of All Time.

And now the best part is rather than hanging up his racquet for good after achieving a second unprecedented Olympic gold in Men's Singles, he chose to carry on to the delight of the legion of fans , and today at age 32 he is still gunning for a third Olympic gold at Rio as one of the top contenders. How amazing is that.

Well that goes the same with old horse LCW who has been defeated so many times by LD, although he also won some.

Yet he did not allow the defeats to intimidate him and he will challenge for the Olympic crown come Rio. Unfortunately he has no other Malaysian MS to accompany him and perhaps help to ease his journey, but his return to form recently will gain him more confidence to face his rivals.

It will be nice to have a LD versus LCW final, as this will most likely be their last appearance at the Olympics.

Just had a chance to watch the China Master's MS final, nice match, good exchanges, almost no easy mistakes, all quality shots. But obviously the rhythm was a bit slow, both players were not pushing their bodies very much. I think their idea was lets play without pressure, who wins not so important. LD played very nonchalantly at the end, doing some tricks a la Taufik. It could have turned at CL's advantage, but as usual it went on LD's.

they managed to give a high level of badminton skill display to be extremely entertaining but at the same time, hold back a bit on intensity to reduce chance of injury and fatigue. the sweetspot of what they need to do a few months before Olympics.

Anyone knows the identity of the Lin Dan doppelganger seen in his finals match talking to Li Zhifeng?
