Super glue, Diamond dust 800grid, cleaning stuff 2. Put a drop of super glue on each tooth. 3. Use the paper to spread the glue evenly (do not use brush lol it is unusable after 10 sec) 4. Pour the diamond dust on top and don't touch for a few min. 5. Use the paper to remove the excessive diamond dust. 6. Let it dry for 24h now you will have a pretty much even spread of diamond dust. For me i will need to sand a few spot down since i tried to remove the excessive dust right away while the glue was still wet. These diamond dust are super fine there is no way you can mess up.
Well on one hand you want as fine as possible on the other you want a little rough. So far the 800 i tested as 32lbs it hold very well. You can try 400 if you wish
does it leave marks on the string, I want to try that on my prince neos clamp. It's a clamp from the 90's, It's slipping a bit too much now. Can't hold 60lbs now. I'm talking tennis string. Thank you
800 is too fine to leave any mark at all. This is as fine as baking soda powder. You may want to try 400 grit or 200 grit for more gripping power. if you zoom in on my first picture you can see that it is even finer than the aluminum's surface. By the way sand the surface slightly so that the glue can bone better.

i have a question, why diamond? do we clamping string with saphire coating or what is practical reason for prefering diamond over, say, aluminium oxide or silicon carbide? also, why not chose composite epoxy for fixing the abrasive substance? it is convinient to work with and strong.
Good questions. I happened to be working in new york and order the diamond dust on amazon. Not sure where i can find saphire. Totally agree with epoxy but i don't have any and super glue is what i have at home. I was planning to use sand plaster but was lazy to drive 30km to the shop that does that. Also sanding with 60 grit aluminum oxide would work as well At least we know that diamond dust and super glue work. Will try other options when the time come
You can try sanding with 40 to 60 grit aluminium oxide paper. diamond dust is just great Not really a rebuild . just clean up, put on the diamond dust, cut up the rail for more friction. Now everything is working the way it should.
-I repainted my stringer as well. This should concluded my tune up. This machine will last many life time lol. All it needs is grease. Everything is built like a tank. There is no bearings anywhere.
regarding the diamond dust application. what viscosity superglue did you use? do you plan to do the same for the WISE gripper as well? interested in applying to mine as after many hundreds of stringing jobs, the original surface has started to wear out. I also wonder about the grit. i guess higher grit don't bite into the string as much. but also means that dust from the string will easily clog the rough surface and require more frequent cleaning.
i just have the regular super glue that stick to metal. i don't think the wise gripper needs anything. 800 is super fine. you can try 400 instead.
Juts curious. What is the brand of your machine and do those funny side supports came originally with it ?
