Thanks for creating the thread OP. So,LYB has dropped both the Legendary Lin Dan and 'The Machine' Chen Long due to their recent bad performances, hmmm hmmm..... Anyways, here is the Line up Men's Team Li Junhui Liu Xiaolong Liu Yuchen Qiao Bin Qiu Zihan Shi Yuqi Tian Houwei Wang Yilv Wang Zhengming Zhang Wen Women's Team Chen Yufei He Bingjiao Luo Ying Luo Yu Sun Yu Tang Yuanting Tian Qing Wang Shixian Yu Yang (F) Zhao Yunlei
I don't think that's the reason why Chen Long and Lin Dan are not featured; noticed also the absence of Li Xuerui and Wang Yihan. More likely it's because there is no necessity for Team CHN to send their A-Team or best lineup for what is essentially the Badminton Asia Team Championships doubling up as the TUC Qualification event. In other words, the BAC Team Championships is also the preliminary rounds of the TUC separately. At the same Team CHN has to include enough of the top guns to ensure qualification while concurrently giving some of their second tier and junior players a chance to prove themselves and select the outstanding performers among them for inclusion as reserves in the TUC proper. For example, in WS, I'd expect Wang Shixian to be assured of her place in the final TUC lineup whereas Sun Yu, He Bingjiao and Chen Yufei will be fighting for a spot in the main lineup. Likewise for MS, I believe either Tian Houwei or Wang Zhengming is already in the main team whilst the other one will be contending with Qiao Bin and Shi Yuqi for the reserve position. I recall Chen Jin recently saying for the Uber Cup lineup he's not just looking at the three main elite WS but would also consider any of the others including junior players who can perform outstandingly in the run-up. Supposedly, Xia Xuanze thinks likewise for MS. But for the CHN doubles lineup, it's a bit of a surprise, perhaps for understandable reasons. For CHN WD, their three seemingly best combinations are fielded presumably to let TQ/ZYL and YY/TYT chances to gain ranking points and to rank the three pairs internally for the Uber Cup despite the Luo twins having just attained WR#1. I reckon these three CHN WD pairs are also (among?) the top contenders vying for the two Rio Olympic spots, so they should be given equal opportunities, appropriately.
Seeding date : 21st January 2016, DRAW date : 2nd February 2016 Both China (host) and Japan (Thomas Cup title-holder) have ensured their place for TUC Finals next May.
i bet LCW will be fielded in the mens team for this tournament, but will not be in the Thomas/Uber Cups Finals in May if MAS team qualified...
JAPAN squad => http://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com/s...id=B1A7006D-7CB5-4080-9058-430AACDD0962&cid=5 Men's team : Kento Momota, Sho Sasaki, Takuma Ueda, Kenta Nishimoto, Hiroyuki Endo/Kenichi Hayakawa, Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda, Hirokatsu Hashimoto/Noriyasu Hirata Women's team : Nozomi Okuhara, Akane Yamaguchi, Minatsu Mitani, Sayaka Sato, Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi, Naoko Fukuman/Kurumi Yonao, Shizuka Matsuo/Mami Naito
I'd say you're basically correct. However, I am not surprised by the doubles choices either. What I see as the common denominator here is that none of the players named for this tournament have points from the Sudirman Cup, except Tang/Yu, who earned a paltry 568 points. When it comes to qualifying for Rio, only one team event counts and players like Lin, Chen, Wang, Li, and Fu/Zhang, Chai/Hong all have team points from the Sudirman while none of the players named for Hyderabad do.

Will be interested to see if the Japanese ladies be able to beat the Chinese B team. I think it will be 50:50.
It is more then Chinese B team, because of the WD (top players are present) and in WS the presence of WSX make it more also. It is a king of A- team.
Yes, that's true. I think Chinese WD will get 2 points. Japanese WS will win 2nd and 3rd singles. So it depends on the result of WSX vs Nozomi.
Exactly! So there will be a lot of pressure on WSX's shoulder. Perhaps her spot for Rio will be played there.
why? LCW would rather skip Thomas Cup in CHN if MAS qualifies because he is training for the Olympic?
It does not matter right? CHN, the host, automatically qualifies for both Thomas and Uber. CHN plays just to earn points to qualify for the Olympic.
