Since no one has profiled CTC in BC, probably because he has been featured in Google, perhaps I should start a thread on this remarkable winner of the recent French Open 2014. We can then follow the progress of this young player from Chinese Taipei.

Much of the information is taken from Google.

I must say I was quite impressed with CTC when he first played in Singapore.

But his performance has not been consistent over the years until last week during the French Open SS, when he surprised many with his victory over JOJ, TS and finally WZM.

CTC was on the verge of defeat during G2 against WZM over a few matchpoints, but he survived. His G1 game was horrendous when he could only salvage 10 points, but he managed miraculously to claw back in G2 to win it as well as the final and deciding game which was also close.

I must say his sudden, very fast, backhand cross-court drive has also caught me by surprise and he won at least 2 important points with this shot against WZM.

You forgot he also had to beat VA... all seeded players in tough nail biting 3 game matches.

If we look at the scorelines, he practically squeaked by with the skin of his teeth. But he hung in there with WZM, who being not the best attacker made the most mistakes.

Congrats to his never say die attitude. The crowd sure loved him!

I admire CTC's positive attitude and self-motivation, if only WZM has more of it he'd have wrapped up the match in two straight sets, taking one of the two matchpoints at 20-18 in the 2nd set.

Amazing that he rubbered most of his games and took the title where the coach didn't come.

LOL. His coach must be thinking, wtf?

I hope this is not merely a nine days' wonder. Players nowadays are difficult to be consistent except LCW and LD.

Agree. Hopefully he is not a "one-hit wonder".

Winning an SS title is an achievement but sustaining his form is very important.

Personally I think he has alot of potential, hopefully he can continue to improve and sustain his level play :)

Them standing side by side on the podium, I didn't realize that CTC is shorter than WZM... from the way CTC was retrieving smashes and playing some incredibly angled shots, I'd thought he was taller. But he certainly is more agile and motivated.

Hope he enjoys his moment in the limelight but don't allow it to get into his head much.
