He may go up further after winning Tata open badminton international challenge 2014 title beating RMV Guru Sai Dutt in the finals last week.
a very good tournament for prannoy, the indian open ss. .he did well to reach the quarter final and lost a very grueling match there, all in all a good tournament and he needs to built on this momentum and do well consistently now, he has a very good game and he can achieve far more than what he has till now.
HS Prannoy developed an injury in his left foot towards the end of the match against Jan O Jorgensen (Twitter has pictures of him sitting down and grimacing while examining his foot). It's a toe injury. According to Coach Pullela Gopichand, Prannoy will be OK soon. However he will not be playing at the Badminton Asia Championships.

too bad. .i was so excited about prannoy's prospects at the upcoming badminton asia championships, hope he recovers soon and plays even better then he has been playing.
K Srikanth, P Kashyap and HS Prannoy will be the Sudirman Cup MS squad for India. Coach P Gopichand might opt to play the first two since HS Prannoy is still recovering.
Although I'd love to be their friend, I am not. India's TOP (Target Olympic Podium) scheme is floundering. It's true that a great many sportspersons have signed up (especially after the exclusion clauses on other grants and sponsorships were withdrawn). However, there is enormous confusion regarding the allowed expenditure groups. For instance, if India's wrestlers want a bench-press machine at their training gym, that's trouble. Each wrestler is allowed $100,000 - however, they aren't allowed to pool the money to buy a single machine for all of them to share! By the time such issues are sorted out by India's notorious bureaucracy, the Olympics will have passed!
This week in Bangkok two top shooters were left stranded because Jet Airways refused to allow them to board with arms. In any other country, the offending officer would have been fired and Jet would have been shamed and blacklisted. Yet it is business as usual here. The shooters in questions were RGKR Anjali Bhagwat and Heena Sidhu. Both are former world #1s, WC champions and World Championship/Asiad/CWG medallists and the former led the athletes commission during our CWG bid.
Can anyone please inform me about the exact criteria for Olympic qualification ? Correct me if I am wrong, but a country can send 3 players in Olympics if they are all ranked within 16. If so then Srikanth, Kashyap and HSP can all qualify for Rio if their current rankings stand?
YOu are right. It seems they have reduced the quota for nations in Rio. This is not a good decision IMO. This will reduce the quality of play in Olympics. And that too just when India was doing well in badminton. Is it BWF or Olympic Committee that makes these decisions, I wonder. Either way they should change it and make it like London.
