Not when he continues in the same vein as in the last two, three years after his knee injury during a soccer game with some friends post Incheon AG'14. Since then we've been seeing Super Dan which already wasn't evident post-LOG'12 playing a stripped-down,condensed,lighter version, what I , for want of a better term, would call Lin Dan Lite. Only briefly and with exceptions did we see him step up his game to a level befitting his world stature as in the GER Open'15, All England'15 and the Thomas Cup. His much-awaited Rio Olympic campaign was a letdown, to me, not for lack of skills of which he 's second to none but for lack of fitness and stamina. But I believe he won't just fade away, I'd expect him to play some badminton competitions, not much but occasionally, esp for the team events if his services are still needed, probably as MS3, just to keep his competitiveness and maintain a decent world ranking as necessary. The rest of his time would be spent on commercial activities, including badminton-related ones, promoting social causes, etc, and at the same leading a celebrity lifestyle for which he's cut out for. As it is, he's said he's taking a break before making any announcements or future plans. Tokyo 2020 can be ruled out, I'm certain of that, the more so after what happened at Rio'16.
