I am happy for LCW too as well! :D I was almost disappointed when LCW was losing the rubber set.

I defend rational thinking, not a particular player.

Hehe..no offence..but i think if it were Taufik today who showed such a bad sportmanship, you will be the first to criticise his attitude.

I thought a lot of players do that towel trick? I notice some famous doubles pair always do that too.

I would criticise his attitude, but I wouldn't drag culture/country and other things of those kind into it. I wouldn't also make it such a big deal.

On the contrary though, I have nothing against Taufik in the first place. I actually wanted to watch him play in SO20006! Grrr... but he didn't play.:( I'm just against the irrational behaviour of Taufik's fans, that's all. :D

The match point, LD was closely watching the shuttle land... from his expression, I think it was a good call, otherwise he would have protested....

i cant blame lin dan for being angry.. but he shouldn't have acted the way he did.. i mean it was 7 match points for him and he just blew it like that?? i would be angry if i were him.. but he should have controlled himself.. it's not like it was the end of the world or anything.. i pity lcw.. lindan made him feel so bad by doing that.. i dont think it was in his wildest dreams that lcw wld have won it.. lcw didnt believe it either.. and i salute lcw for keeping his cool throughout the last few points.. i would have panicked and it isnt easy to get 7 points in a row against world no.1 ..

but i think lcw and lindan were ok friends.. lindan was saying smth to lcw after lcw missed a tight netball..

lindan shouldnt have done what he did today.. his gesture, taking of the medal and refusing the hat or wadever it was offended the people in the stadium.. the first thing that came into my mind was that he was a sore loser.. and him walking out on the photo taking and throwing his raquet to the wall confirmed it..

I think PG and KJ have the best sportmanship. I remember PG even congratulated LD and smiled to him once when he lost to LD in a very tight and close match.

Back in 2004 in Olympics TT prize giving, losers Wang Hao & Wang LiQin

refused to smile and flash their medals with Ryu Seung Min.I think they could not accept losing.

No wonder LD never won the IBF player of the year award, its for people

who know how to win and how to lose.

Maybe LD is learning from his overseas Fukien brethen-Kiasu.

I think China has to educate their players to accept defeat sometimes.

Yeah, somebody got to give me a lecture on controlling his emotions. I am pretty sure he does not mean to insult anyone but it seems his mind was pretty screwed. I think the coaches should play a larger responsibility in calming their players and reminding them of what they should do during such moments of vulnerability.

One incident I encountered with KJ recently at Singapore Open 2006 was that after his match, he was walking past the front row. I requested for his autograph and he said he got to rush for something (I think its to the reporters waiting for him). But a few metres forward, he signed for someone else.

However, after the finals, I approached him again and he signed.

Even when he declined the first time, I didn't suddenly dislike him or hate him or something even though I would have wondered why he declines my request but signs for someone else a few metres away. Sometimes, we should not take things too badly because things might not always be exactly what we think it is.

ya especially chan chong ming too....
but LD particullarly really abuse it at the right time.. especially the tightest points.. and this time he did it when he is leading and 1 point away from match point.. how unfair it is for LCW
Anyway I can understand racket throwing thing which is common, but refusing to accept gift from the host and takin off his silver medal thats a sign of sore loser who cannot accept defeat, I was shocked and felt kinda awkward watching that shameful moment
He hope he humble himself down in the future and become like Taufik:eek:

alright, i read through this and the other thread. while i agree that Lin Dan's behavior is rather unsportsman-like. i also think members here have already expressed their opinion. i want to avoid emotional driven over-reactions. so to let everybody calm down a bit, i am going to temporarily close these two threads.
