i think he was referring to the group/preliminary round of play (TC & UC). He got it correct, based on the groupings in the 1st post.
These countries' participation in the Thomas and Uber Cup are crucial for badminton growth worldwide... But at this time, realistically, they cannot win against the 5 badminton giants which are CHN, INA, KOR, DEN, MAS... and not even against 2nd tier big boys & gals such as JPN and IND... Not in 2010...
bro,are you trying to be funny there? nice try. so,what's your take:do you think they are waste of places, too?
With the new system being introduced already, i'm sure it's gonna be hard to tell who's gonna be the winner. I'm sure both teams would field their strongest line up. No more playing the fool like putting Lee Yong Dae as singles player Unless for Uber Cup, maybe it's pretty much we will know who will be the winner already in that tie. but who knows, home ground advantage and supports from the strong 'hardcore' crowd in stadium putra might at least 'spring' some surprises. ok, put that in then I'm talking about the tie that will catch my attention. (during preliminary round)
Hi! Hi guys! I'm new to badminton central but i'm very interested in the Thomas and Uber Cup. Hope that the MAS team will win this time!
Anyone has the website or the schedule of play each day? Pls help to post it. I am flying in to KL on Fri am, cheering for LCW & company (MAS). Would like to cheer for WMC & company (MAS), but they did pretty badly in AE:crying:
The day Peru beats China in a Thomas cup match is the day, we will find millions of Peruvians joining ranks of badminton fans. Not to mention the joy of other teams and their fans.
Any idea when the match schedule is going to be out? I'd like to plan ahead for which matches to watch.
Actually the draw for the quarters is going to be really interesting. With the new format nobody knows who meets who till the preliminary round is over. One of the 'big boys' will be meeting either China or Korea and that's really going to be a mouth-watering tie. Yup sorry AlanY but Peru, Nigeria and Australia are going to be taking an early flight home. Not a waste of places but no chance for these guys. Oh yeah and anybody realised that the biggest tie of the preliminary round could be Germany vs Poland (TC) cause i believe they'll be really gunning it out for that 2nd place in the group. For the UC I think Group C all teams are in with a shot for the 2 places.
Hope the schedule will be announced well before I arrive. I can't see me watching every match. Hopefully the matches I want to catch will be grouped together.
