It reminds me of Korean saying - "Where the tiger is away from the forest, a fox prevails..." Unfortunately, JJS will be in with LYD. From October 11th, they participate in the National Sports Festival representing their hometowns respectively(LYD with his old-partner Cho Gun Woo, JJS with another guy, Huh Hoon Hoi). So you can't yet see them in Europe.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b743_7Y1Qa4 sorry cooler, but for amazing shots, check this out..... even though, ironically, i think Tony Gunawun is so much more awesome.
http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=RLkq7tbcIwc&feature=related http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Vvjf4RiG1ZU&feature=related Sigit's other two trickshots....which end up botched anyways.
i have no doubt that sigit has best ability to make trickshots but this thread is about best frontman in MD. To add, trickshots r just eye candy but often not effective. Tony G. make money shots and shots that turn the table around, ex. like from being defensive back to offensive, this is much more important in a rally than trickshot. One off trickshots here and there are cool looking but often don't have the payback.
^^Off topic-That was recorded.^^ ..by BC's demolidor (he hasn't made any comments yet during this Dutch Open)...
Today's Best Frontman is LYD, Definate, Approved! Hendra is following right behind him... The others including Tony Gunawan are quite old uncles.
That's messed up analogy. LYD/JJS got beat twice by BC Resident double specialist (JR/LP) in TC and OG. Which in turn got beat by MK/HS in OG. So what does that tell you then?
correction, MK/HS lost in swiss open not all england i think its too early to say that LYD is the best front man player...he hasnt won anything major yet...sure he's won AE but i personally think all england's prestige has dropped since it became a super series tournament... Tony Gunawan has proven himself to be the best doubles player in the world...even rexy says so...the current LYD cannot be compared to TG in mens doubles, but in mixed LYD's got the edge
^^The last sentence says it all..^^ ..... But since this thread is all about and encompassing only the Men's Doubles field, then yeah, Tony has the (big) edge over LYD, in terms of major accomplishments..
yeah, and besides, Tony G doesnt play mixed at all...at least not competitively, i once heard he played mixed with his wife in a small tournament, somewhere...
^^He's played XD with different partners..^^ ..among which was during 2005 Chinese Taipei Open with CHN TPE's Cheng Wen-Hsing, where they won the XD title.. ..and recently, he played with Minarti Timur during last yr's U.S. Open (lost in the SF, if not mistaken). This tournament, btw, is the one where he played & won with his wife (Eti) during the 2002-2003 editions (right after both migrated to the states).
yupper. LYD does well in XD MAINLY because he has a very strong lady partner, she is tall, strong, can give and take the hammering. I bet if LYD get a lady partner like vita, natsir, sara lee, gail emms, kellogg, LYD's success story would be written VERY DIFFERENTLY. Just look back at all the consistently successful XD pairs, they have lady partner like gao ling, ra, ge fei. Having a look male partner is good but having a very good lady partner can make the male player looks really really good.
Hmmm, what video was this? Ze Germans? In that case I will upload another version soon, deleted it because there was no high quality option given by yootoob666 . If not that one then I have no idea ...
^^Off topic-It was a men's doubles match..^^ ...and it's no longer there. The player who did the trick was a European player. If i recall correctly, the uploader's name is "bcdemolidor"??..very brief video, though..
