    Agree, but with a qualifying comment tho'. Gek Poh Ville CC tournament also had the same objective, i reckon, but they still ensured that they make it interesting enough for people to spend time/money/effort in playing it..they offered (a) $100 prize money for men singles winner + (b) Top-end Carlton Racquet + (c) A nice trophy...
    My argument is simple: Nobody is looking to make a living out of the prize money, so even if you cant offer any prize money, it's ok..but atleast make it meaningful by offering a trophy that can sit on your shelf, or/and offer a racquet that you can (a) use yourself (Yonex/Carlton/Wilson/etc etc) or (b) sell to others or (c) gift to others...
    If you advertise "$200 worth of prizes" and then give an unknown, unusable brand of racquet, then there's an issue.

    Nee Soon East Badminton Tournament is on again.

    You can get the entry form from Nee Soon East CC.

    Open only to people in Sembawang GRC only. So to check if you qualify, you need to call the cc or 68947537 after 6pm. Razak is the organiser. Please don't contact me hor.;)

    I will be playing of course. Come and join in if free. Saturday 1st Nov and Sunday 2 Nov 3pm.

    Closing 25th Oct. (Do it now).

    This is also a prelude to select Intercon players.

    The Berita Harian/Pilot Pen/Ashaway Youth Badminton Championships will be held in November 2008, details as follows:

    Events:
    A) U12 Boys/Girls - Singles/Doubles
    B) U15 Boys/Girls - Singles/Doubles
    C) U18 Boys/Girls - Singles/Doubles

    Dates/Venues:
    17-22 November 2008 (Tampines Sports Hall)
    23 November 2008 (Bedok Sports Hall)

    The 2008 Ashaway/Pilot Pen International Club Badminton Championship will be held from 6th to 8th November at the Bedok Sports Hall. Clubs from Singapore, India, Malaysia, Indonesia etc have been invited.

    The timings are as follows:
    Thu 6 Nov - 9am to 12noon, 6pm to 9pm
    Fri 7 Nov - 9am to 12noon
    Sat 8 Nov - 9am to 12noon, 6pm to 9pm

    Admission is FREE :)

    I heard Gek Poh CC also got another age group tournament. You may want to call them early. I missed out on the Pilot pen age group.;)

    there was no tournament today (sat). i should have called the cc today to check before i went down to the cc. the tournament will only start on sunday 3-9pm. guess not many entries....

    That NeeSoon East organiser called me to say its sunday 12pm. Didn't know it was 3pm. I should have joined in for this and win it. I was coaching at 12-3pm. This guy who organise this is hopeless. :(

    The tournament finish around start around 1pm and finish around 4.30pm. Not many participant.

    Cheers Post Secondary Team Challenge
    This team event is open to JCs, ITEs, Polytechnics and Universities. Please refer to the entry form for institutions eligible to enter.
    Ties consist of: Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. The event will be played in a round robin format with the 3rd/4th placings and finals to be played on 6th Dec.

    Heard there will a Spottiswoode Park Badminton Tournament on 22nd and 23rd November and entry forms can be obtained from the Spottiswoode RC office.

    Was about to announce this here actually. Here are the details.

    Siglap Badminton Championship 2008

    Who's Eligible?
    Singapore Citizens and PRs, especially Siglap division residences

    Where?
    Siglap Community Centre
    300, Bedok South Avenue 3.
    Singapore 469299

    When?
    13th December to 21st December
    Saturdays will be after 2pm. Sundays will start from 10am, and Weekdays, if there's a need to play it, will be after 7.30pm.

    How?
    Best of three 21 points rally system.
    Single Knock-out format

    What events are available?

    1. Men's Singles Open (1) Open to Siglap Residence ONLY
    2. Men's Singles Open (2) All eligible participants
    3. Women's Singles Open (1) Open to Siglap Residence ONLY
    4. Women's Singles Open (2) All eligible participants
    5. Men's Doubles Open (1) Open to Siglap Residence ONLY
    6. Men's Doubles Open (2) All eligible participants
    7. Men's Doubles Veteran (3) Open to Siglap Residence ONLY
    8. Men's Doubles Veteran (4) All eligible participants
    9. Women's Doubles Open (1) Open to Siglap Residence ONLY
    10. Women's Doubles Open (2) All eligible participants
    11. Mixed Doubles Open. All eligible participants, but ONE of the two players must be a Siglap resident.

    Prize Money?
    Singles Event:
    Champion : $100 Cash & Medal
    1st Runner : $50 Cash & Medal
    Semi-finalist : Medal

    Doubles Event:
    Champion : $200 Cash & Medal
    1st Runner : $100 Cash & Medal
    Semi-finalist : Medal

    Registration Fees?

    Adult:
    Singles : $10/player
    Doubles : $20/pair

    Students:
    Singles : $8/player
    Doubles : $15/pair

    In the event of 1 adult and 1 student, it will be $10 + $8 = $18.
