do you guys feel the lateral claw prevent you from rolling your ankles?

both the 200 and 101 have much much stiffer soles than the previous generation. i have A/B compared it against the 100, 99, 89, etc. the 200/101 made them feel very soft in comparison.

the lateral support of the 200/101 goes higher than previous models also.

as for the look, i think the shb101 is the better looking one. however, the shb200 isn't as bad looking in real life as it does on photos.

the key differentiation point for both shoes should be the width, SHB200 being 4E should fit players with wider feet. SHB101 should fit players with narrower fit.

fit is vital when it comes to choosing shoes, everything else is secondary.

that is why i'm not too keen on switching to shoes without the lateral claws. they sort of give me that sense of security.

'lateral claws' feature is fine for security but it's quite painful to wear. For the first time I'll be choosing SHB 200 range, as this hasn't got 'lateral claws' and is wider but still a top spec shoe.

To be honest, I hadn't been aware of this SHB 200 existance, until I read this forum.

yeah, i noticed that the lateral claw reduced what little instances i had of ankle rolling to practically nil. plus, the bite feels kinda good imo, for me.

Anyone else got any comments on the 200s as im very eager to purchase a pair (from direct sports)have tried the Asics Gel Blade 2s which were very nice indeed so its those or the 200s ..Just so hard to try a pair of 200s in the UK..Been waiting for a month for the local sports shop to get some in ..has had the 101s which i did find pretty narrow and not that comfortable imho..

If i am correct Asics shoes are very narrow and SHB200 are very wide shoes. If you found Asics shoes to be perfect then there's no chance of finding SHB200 fine. If you did buy SHB200 then you have a high chance of rolling your ankle because of the amount of free space in the shoe for your foot to move. You are probably better off buying SHB101.

I agree on the fit thing. I'd rather wear a pair of tennis shoes out there than a pair of ill-fitting (crush-my-feet) badminton shoes.

That said, I'm pretty excited about the 200's 'cause I wear a US13 Wide and it's been a little hard to find badminton shoes in that size :)

It's nice to hear that they have good lateral support without the lateral claw.

When you say that they are stiffer are you talking about cushioning or how much effort it takes to bend the sole?

i was only talking about the sole when bending and twisting it. the difference is quite a lot and very noticeable.

The Asics shoes are far from being narrow...again imho..
And i do have broad feet .The 101s i did find narrow...
Maybe its an Asics thing but i did find them far more fitting than the 101s..
There was no free space or feeling of movement with Asics shoe...In fact they were a very snug and comfy fit...
    May be my weird feet.

I tried wearing both asics and yonex shoes and i found asics to be the most narrow. Maybe it depends on which model you use. If you find SHB101 to be narrow then try SHB91 or SHB200.

agreed. my asics gel rocket and gel blade II are half a size bigger than my usual yonex size (eg shb89, shb99 etc). also tried the shb65r and shb98 which need half a size bigger too.

Just had a delivery of SHB 200, so would play during this weekend and try it out. My old shoe is the last year's 101s, which was quite tight and small, as I had forgotten to order 0.5 size extra for Yonex shoes. Now this SHB 200 is extra 0.5 size. The first thing I noticed is the inside sole, it has a wave effect. Will report back.

The waves in the insoles are good....very very good.
The difference in traction is very noticeable.

The fit is wider than my asics gel blade 2 and yonex shb100mx. So i find for the first time my toes being crushed cuz my feet can slide to the tip of the shoe. Probably need to fit some old sock in there to reduce the gap. Or try tying the shoe tighter.

It's a good shoe. I would say much better compared to asics gel blade 2. And more than slightly better than yonex shb100mx.

Problem is i sweat like crazy...by the 3rd hour my socks and shoes are soaked. Sometimes so is the court :p

Agreed... what little movement there could have been is completely stopped by the insoles, its like a massage :p:D

Problem is I sweat even on my foot. By the 2nd hour the socks are drenched with sweat...it's getting slippery even with those insoles.
I really have to consider changing socks after 1 1/2 hours.
