Today it has been announced by danish badminton federation that Tine Rasmussen is still injured and will not travel to China for the upcomming Sudirman Cup.

Link to news on Danish Badminton Federation Website

What a loss for Denmark. Now their chances of beating Malaysia and Korea in the group are looking much slimmer.

Against Malaysia Denmark will lose the WD. The MS is most likely also lost and now the WS is gone. Nanna Brosolat can beat Julia Wong, but not Mew Choo Wong. MD is a 50/50 match and Denmark will be slight favourites in XD.

Korea will win also win WD against Denmark. Now WS should also be a KOR win, not 100% certain, but very likely. In XD Korea will be big favourites, while Gade should have a good chance of beating Park Sung Hwan (not certain win though). MD will have Denmark as slight favourites as I see it.

All in all it's going to take some surprises from the danish team to make it to the semi finals now...

Just want to wish them good luck and wish Tine a speedy recovery.

Whats a disappointement :( Before knowing this news I still hope that I can watch Tine v any chinese players in Sudirman Cup :( Sudirman Cup always brings bad luck to her. I remember in 2005, she injured badly during the Sudirman Cup, she needed a walking stick to support her. This year, before the tournament, she already injured :( Wish she can recover soon, and wish that I can see her in Singapore Open this year :D

    As reported in Badzine website..

..it is a heel injury (report mentioned it's not as serious)..

It's unfortunate for her and the team, but they must go on and now rely on their younger, less experienced players, esp. in the WS dept. They could still give the MAS squad a fight, though.

The Malaysian media is already jumping for joy in Tine's absence. This is not good for the team preparation, they might get too confident and finally fall flat.

With TR’s withdrawn there is only one plausible prediction of the finalists, CHN and KOR. They have only played against each other twice in the final with the score at 1-1. On paper CHN has the upper hands for MS, WS, KOR with MD and XD with WD well in the balance that can go either way. Can’t wait.

This is first time I will watch Sudirman Cup, so not familiar with the format. I think it will be VERY difficult for Denmark to win without Tine Rasmussen though.

Denamrk also needs to breed young talent to takeover their top players as they are getting old. Though Gade and Rasmussen are great players, they are getting old and if they suffer any injury the Danish team will have a tough time in future.

i don't think you can rule the danes out even though Tine is absent.
sure, the chinese are going to win it in the end, but the group matches should still be interesting.

i don't think it's fair to count out the danes, especially in MS/MD/WD and XD...Just because a star player is gone in WS, doesn't mean their other disciplines can't get it done...NOR does it mean that the replacement WS player can't get it done...anything can happen, and anything should be expected to happen...
