Could it be the H1N1 virus thingy? Msia Ministry of Health strongly advised Msian sporting associations not to send althetes to USA or Australia for competitions due to high number of cases in there.

    ^^Yup..^^

..a case for the upcoming U.S. Open, 2 S'porean players withdrew on reason of H1N1 virus. While i'm here still witnessing beach goers still flocking to the beach to sunbath..

H1N1 is not that bad here in Melbourne within our Badminton community

    .
Yes, it's unfortunate that we in Melbourne, Australia have some cases of the H1N1. However, no cases are reported with our Badminton players. This I can assure you, as I know most Badminton players here in Melbourne.

Hope that the Malaysian Ministry of Health can investigate; and find that the H1N1 is OK here in Melbourne within our Badminton community.

IMHO, the Melbourne H1N1 situation is mostly hyped up - way overblown and made up to be much much worse than it actually is. it would be such a shame if sporting competitions held here lose good players due to this issue.

LOL, I'm not the Ministry of Health & they follow WHO guidelines. ;) The NSC(who's the boss of all the sports accociations) is even considering recalling the Msian track cycling team currently based in Melbourne. They've training there for years.

    Taken from Bola:
[FONT=Arial,Helvetica][SIZE=-1]"Kita akan lakukan evaluasi lagi karena hasil di Indonesia jelek. Mereka baru akan berangkat ke Filipina dan Thailand,"sebut I Made Oka, Wakil Ketum II PBSI."

Notice the bolded sentence. And AFAIK, the gentleman who said it is an army officer... :p

    Some other possibilities:
    1. Maybe it's true, lack of money. Pretty sad if it the reason, really. They have money to pay MAS GP cancelling fine, but no money for AUS? :(
    2. H1N1
    3. PBSI officials: "AUS GP? Really? Where? When?" :p

Thai Open is same week as Australia GP....PBSI is planning to send some to Thai GP and some of them may go to Laos Challenge as well...

It is good that Djarum goes to AUS GP and NZ GP...
May be Djarum can send some of their junior players to laos Challenge....then again...a week later, we will have INA Challenge

Hau-ge got information today that indicated: 'people in charge of sending the athletes' in the INA National Team didn't even realize the existence of AUS GP  and the fact that the NZ GP has been moved to July... So Jagdpanther's possibility #3 is the most probable... :(

    really??
    that's a bit unprofessional IMHO..
I think PBSI might've missed a huge opportunity to gain experience and (perhaps) easy points for the players..

I think the tournament in NZ has always been held in July, with the exception of 2008 due to the clash with Beijing 2008..
Maybe these 'people in charge of sending the athletes' should start checking BC and mark their calendars for future reference now.. :)

I also noticed in the players' facebook pages that sometimes their friends (more like fans to me) ask whether they'll participate in a particular tournament. So I think it should become an unofficial reminder to them..

At first, yes.. But given the hint that you gave that it's been like that for some times, I think I've heard about this person already. The coach from djarum told me when he came over for the AKL international..

So surprised that that kind of person is still being kept by PBSI..

Since this is a Yonex sponsored event, any chance of seeing Taufik and other independent players from IND?

Someone should let Taufik know that the badminton venue and Crown Entertainment centre is within walking distance only. Very convenient. :p

The INA National team should have sent their MD, WD, and XD here... they would have made a killing! This lineup is pretty much like NZ GP.... Aah, what a wasted opportunity... :(
