I think that for regulars, it is excusable for the first few times if they book in, and something comes up (as it did for Jin). Jin shouldn't be made an example of, or targeted, but it is important that for newcomers, they realise that it is a big club, and there are people wanting to fill spots if available. That said, I think that most people who attend (or book in) actualyl have the intention of coming, and don't book in just for the sake of grabbing a spot. Or perhaps that's just the optimist in me... my 2c
That's the inherent risk with internet forum bookings agreed. of course, there'll always be some who don't turn up after booking. it is still good to raise this issue whenever this happens to remind everyone that we all have a part to play to ensure that the club continues to run. that said, let's cut some slack for Jin-H since he really couldn't help it. i'm sure he would have removed his name from the list if he could

CCC at MSAC on Wednesday 08-Jul-2009 (15 hours of court-time is now confirmed) . Court No.9 is now released to the general public. Tomorrow, we shall see if more courts should be released (if not enough CCCers are attending this Wednesday). Well, of course i would feel targeted when i was singled out on the forum like that for my first offence. I havent seen anyone ever got a warning bcz of that before. I m a regular who has never missed any wednesday session when i m in melbourne since i started playing at CCC, n the first time i missed out, you gave me a warning openly here. How else should i feel?

I agree with Greg and Dolphin that most of us book in here bcz we really have the intention of coming and a reminder should be issued from time to time to all CCCers about the importance of attending after booking in, but to randomly(i hope this was the case) pick up someone to serve as a warning to others is not that fair.

CCC being considerate to players who wish to play Badminton with us . Hi Jin-H, It's great that we are talking about CCC being considerate to players who wish to play Badminton with us. There have been many new people contacting me, asking me if they could come and play with us (at MSAC). My usual reply is: "Yes, do come and join us. But we have a 'Booking In System', if you are wanting to play at our Wednesday CCC at MSAC. It is to ensure that our players have enough games." So what happened on Wednesday 01-Jul-2009; 6 new people have been turned away because our 'Booking In List' was full. Even though, on that night when MSAC could give us more courts, and that we could increase our number of players to 36, we still have to turn away players. When CCCers who have booked in and who did not attend, I can only feel sorry for those who have been turned away. Greg-S said that I felt like ranting. But I would like this matter to be known to all CCCers. Jin-H, you are not banned. If you are banned, CCCers will not forgive me. To make you feel better, we shall now also mention another regular CCCer who have booked in (for 01-Jul-2009 session) and who did not show up. He is Chris Chen. Let's hear what Chris Chen has to say. .

CCC is intended to promote Badminton to as many 'new' players as possible . In a short reply, we would have to say "Sorry, please don't come and play at CCC if you are not happy with us". CCC is intended to promote Badminton to as many 'new' players in Melbourne as possible. We do not care about our players' skill levels and/or where they come from. We wish to be considerate to all new-comers to Badminton in Melbourne. Perhaps, this is the difference between our CCC and other clubs and/or private groups existing in Melbourne, Australia.
