^^Actually..^^ ..she recently played in the India Open GP Gold at the end of March, where she was shown the early exit in the Round of 1/32.
and she decided to skip the Singapore Open as i read in KOMPAS newspaper today..so she will be in hibernate mode once again. except for IO and WC i think when she has a "duty" to represent INA, (although she is injured i think she -or some people- will "force" her to play at those two tournament) poor maria, poor INA WS..i think INA should just focused on regeration (now or never)
Her injury has not yet fully recovered, possibly INA SS is the last tourney for Maria before World Championships?!
If i were her coach.. ..or one of her trainers, i'd suggest Maria takes a longer period of absence just for the sake of getting her knee enough rest & recovery before the WC. Yes, even if she has to let go of the INA Open SS. With abt 2.5 months to go before the WC, the least she could do is to put more strain on her knee.
After so many lost a lot of points in Indonesia Open, will she lost a lot of points again in WC?? :crying::crying::crying:
^^Most important question is..^^ ..will she be rested and ready to go come the World Championships??..
She has Injury ... But I think her skill good ... But her stamina not good ... maybe she can win after she has rest for 2 month to WC ...^_^
i read the newspaper today that she's not ready for WC... according to Lius Pongoh, she's lack of motivation...
Fiuuuh... not a good news then. Actually, considering her draw in WC, she has pretty good chance....hehe... IMO. I hope she perform well! Come on Maria.
The Jakarta Post has a different story. She sounds eager to silence her critics. Maria Kristin out to end title drought Agnes Winarti , The Jakarta Post , Jakarta | Fri, 07/24/2009 9:47 PM | Sports Olympic bronze medalist Maria Kristin Yulianti is poised to prove her critics who have been questioning her credential wrong, as she gears up for the World Badminton Championship in Hyderabad, India, next month. Maria said Friday she was setting her sight on the women’s singles title, after coming off a prolonged knee injury that forced her to give four season-opening majors, including the All England, a miss, and lead to a shocking early exit in the Grand Prix Gold India Open and the Indonesia Open Super Series recently. “I have always dreamt of becoming world champion. Playing in the world championship is such a prestigious opportunity. Thus, I will not waste this chance,” said Maria, who started to focus on badminton at the age of 10. Maria sprang a hatful of surprises when she reached the semifinals and won the play-off match for the bronze medal in the Oympic Games in Beijing last year. She has been unable to reach her best shape since then, partly due to her nagging injury. At the World Championship on Aug. 10-16, Maria hopes avenge her defeat to Chinese top shuttler Xie Xinfang in the Indonesia Open last month. Maria will face Sophia Hansson in the first round. “I don’t want people to doubt my performance. I will show it to them all,” said Maria, who managed only to advance to the second round in the 2007 championship. http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2009/07/24/maria-kristin-out-end-title-drought.html
Unfortunately MKY's early exits from both INa Open SS and WC cost her lots of WR pts :crying: She's currently ranked #26 and no longer INA #1 WS, as Firda and Febe have better world rankings (20 and 25 consecutively) Good luck MKY for your upcoming tourney Hope injury won't haunting you forever
OMG, MKY's World Rankings "terjun bebas" to #37 :crying: :crying: I guess it'd be really hard time for her, both physically and mentally, While lots of ppl put high hopes and expectation on her Hope it won't affect her mood and confidence, though Hope she'll doin' well in JO, But i guess this time she'll become early rounds casualties as she got bad draws (possibly facing Wang Xin, Tine and Saina in a row) Sigh, if she lost in preliminary rounds, her WR pts will likely sunk even more deeper, as last year she reach QF, rite? CMIIW Hope she proves me wrong and surprise us again, though! Go Mbak Jamu MKY
Yeah, bad news that Maria Kristin's WR has dropped drastically after series of losing in some tourneys lately, #37 per 10 September/09. Looks like SS level is really tough for her ranking now...
