wow this thread is very alive! just to add my 2 cents' worth. i think it's important not to get carried away with the initial excitement. there are indeed many things we can do to improve, which is why it's great to have all these suggestions coming in. but it's just as important to proceed gradually. so while we welcome all suggestions, we should prioritize and then implement them progressively and selectively. realistically, there's only so much we can do as a group that meets to play once a week. the rest is really up to the individual. group-wise, what we're looking at should be something that's likely to be sustainable in the long run. having people go all out in the first few weeks only to burn out later is counter-productive. and the last thing we want is people sustaining injuries for trying to do too much too fast, right? also, there might be some who aren't quite so enthusiastic about pursuing this so seriously or committing so much of their time and energy. we're a big group after all. i think there's a need to clarify that the choice is ultimately still up to you. apologies for the lengthy post. i seldom say this much but i happen to have strong views on the topic personally, i'm all for regimental training. stroke & footwork drills, and half-court singles, gosh i actually miss those looking forward!
Nice to see more views and comments. As a start, maybe we use one of the court for training first (stroke & footwork drills, and half-court singles). If more members are interested then we will commit to train on the first hour on each court. But I am still serious about the Run for Hope 2009, I will definitely be going as I felt its really something that we should do for the charity, my company usually will sponsored us, so they pay with money, i contribute with my energy. Do consider even it will be held at the East of SG.

Grab your badminton buddy and get ready for a smashing good time at the 2nd AA Badminton (Doubles) Fun Tournament. The tournament is open to all ages divided into two categories – Open (18 to 45 years old) & Veteran (46 years old and above) – and will be played in a double-knockout format. A minimum of 8 teams will be required for each category. The Fun Tournament will be played on a best of 3 (21 points format). Charges (per pax) AA Members $25 Guest $30 Prizes will be given to the top 3 teams of each Category. Closing Date: Monday, 7 September 2009. Note: Tournament date, time and venue maybe subjected to change. Participants are advised to dress in appropriate sporting attire and non-marking shoes. Please bring along your own badminton rackets.
