The 2007 World Badminton Championships was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

    In Round 3 (Round-of-16) on Thursday 16-August-2007:
Sony DWI KUNCORO [9][IMG][INA] defeated [IMG][MAS] Chong Wei LEE [2] 21-11, 21-9 in 36 mins

That was a BIG shock to many MAS fans. :crying::crying::crying:

SS FINALS - Masters Minus 2 more Kims and Lees

    .
    A disaster, isn't it? :(:(:(

Don't know when we can get a SS Masters Finals when all top 8 players/pairs get to attend.

what sony did to LCW (beating him) was a miracle. I wonder if Sony can do it once again in JB but unlucky we cannot watch this match as Sony will not be participating in SS Final '09. :p

Sea Games 09 will be held in Laos.

About WD with the Korean pairs withdrawal: Total disaster! Really horrible. Alongside WS, will be the most boring categories due to lack of top players here. And lack of competition.

WD and WS participants looks more like Gold tournaments participants rather than SS Master Final.

With LHJ injury, XD field will also lost one contender in LYD/LHJ. :(

The Badminton Masters Finals event is still going nowhere

    .
Yes, after 3 years of trying, our SS Masters Finals event is still going nowhere.

    BWF has to rethink. IMHO, our Badminton Masters Finals event cannot become BIG unless;

    (1) Our Badminton players become independent professionals (not controlled by their National Associations)

We cannot compare Badminton players with professional players in Tennis, Golf, Basketball, Soccer, etc...

    and/or,

    (2) More National Badminton Associations support this event

IMHO, National Associations care more for glory to their national teams' standing/ranking than to their individual players' achievements. For them, it's the total team spirit/glory that counts.

    Talk abt a nightmare...

..imagine the scramble to fill in those spots which were previously occupied by those Koreans..

And to think this is "supposed" to be BWF's most anticipated and hyped up event of the yr...

This is such a bummer! I really think they should cancel the whole thing and save the money for better preparation of next year SS final, to be held on a more reasonable realistic time with the real top 8 attendees in every departments!

There is only a very short period of time avaliable

    .
    * To cancel it?: It's too late now.
    * To get the top 8 to come?: Their National Associations must send them.
    * To be held in a more reasonable realistic time?: There is only a very short period of time avaliable (between the last SS tournament and the first one for next year).
