Review of the PP10k Initial remarks Well, as we al already have seen, it's a gorgeous racket, it feels stiff and solid, stringing it at 12,5kg (28lbs or so, yy bg80) was pretty easy. It's a g5 grip, but wrapping a towelgrip over the standard grip (and wrapper) felt like a bad idea, the end result was almost headlight, and a big squishy grip. I opted for some athletic tape and scotch tape, and still towelgrip. Play I have played the greater part (98%) of last year with my trusty Karakal Mt80 and the difference is apparant. The pp10k feels slightly lighter and slightly headheavier, but the greatest change is from a midflex aero-frame to a stiff boxframe. After I got used to it I cann only say that it's a fast, solid racket with a really 'crisp' feeling to it, I'd have no problems switching to it. All in all, I think zelm did a fine job on the pp10k, it's a good allrounder with a solid feeling, I can't see why anybody wouldn't like it (except the no-stiff-rackets-crowd I guess).
No, sorry, I'm not going to do any ratings, i find it too dependent on personal preference and other your-milage-may-vary type of things... I got less power out of it than 2U beasts like the w7 and w11 (sotx), but for a 3U it's very good to best! mobility is not as good as rackets like the mt70, but for a 3U pretty decent.
Racquet Model: ZELM Powerplay 10000 Strings: Yonex BG80 Tension: 25/26 lbs Grip: Towel Here's my review... After 8sessions of playing with it, and a friendly game(which I won) In my opinion, the Powerplay10000 is indeed an improvement from the Powerplay9990. Slightly lighter in weight, balanced to slight head heavy balance, slightly stiffer shaft, the racket is much quicker, control is better and power is as good. Lobs/Clears: As usual, the racket excels in this department just like its previous models. Dropshots/Netshots: Comparing to the Powerplay9990, I feel that drops, are more precise, nets, frontcourt play is much easier and better because of its balance, racket is quicker, feels more alive compared to its predecessor. Smashes: I am not a very big smasher, but the shuttle goes BOOM on times when i manage to hit the sweetspot. It plays just as well for me in this department, +20 when i hit the sweetspot. Drives: With the slightly stiffer shaft and balance. Drives are more precise. Helped me got out of tricky situations when i was caught cold on drives by opponents. Defence: Another great improvement in this department. While defending, racket feels solid, and the feel on the racket is very good. The Powerplay10000 is certainly more maneuverable as compared to powerplay9990. Overall: With the added attributes, a great improvement from the Powerplay9990. Quicker and solid feel, perfect doubles racket for me. Power, Defense, Control, all packed into 1racket. The POWERPLAY10000!
