hmm,the indionisian thomas cup team should be able to advance to the final round in malaysia. it'll be a joke if they don't finish as the top team in the quaflifying event, what with 3 top of the line and veteran men's singles players supporting them.so 1 men's doubles player's absence shouldn't be too much to handle.
Indonesia is so strong in the Asian qualifiers I think they can basically play against a combined team from all the other Asian countries in the qualifiers and still win the tie
Been told that Top Thai players may not play at all...CED has been asked to resign...(thats what I heard)
Latest update... Youngsters shoulder Thai hopes after badminton stars withdraw By The Nation Published on February 20, 2010 Rocked by the withdrawal of key players including world No 7 Boonsak Ponsana, things look bleak for Thailand in next week's Thomas Cup (men) and Uber Cup (women) Asian preliminaries in Nakhon Ratchasima. Thirteen national teams will compete in the weeklong biennial tournament. On the men's side, Thailand will play India, Sri Lanka and Cambodia in Group C, with powerhouses Indonesia, Japan and South Korea lurking in the other three groups. In the Uber Cup preliminaries, the host girls have a tough draw in Group X with South Korea, Indonesia, Singapore and Sri Lanka, while Group Y consists of Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India and Philippines. The top two teams in each group will meet in a knockout stage to decide which three men's and women's teams will represent Asia in the Thomas and Uber Cup world team finals in Kuala Lumpur, from May 9 to 16. Thai hopes were crippled when players such as Boonsak, runnerup at last month's Malaysian Open Super Series, his sister, world No 14 and SEA Games champion Salakjit, Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thoungthongkham all withdrew from the national team after alleging a lack of financial transparency at the Badminton Association of Thailand. The host team will instead field national juniors and young guns in both Cup events. World No 32 Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk will lead the Thai assault in the Thomas Cup, with SEA Games silver medallist and former world junior champion Ratchanok Inthanon, 15, spearheading the women's side in the Uber Cup. *Read completely -- http://www.nationmultimedia.com/hom...-Thai-hopes-after-badminton-sta-30123013.html
So.. ..looking at the latest news (by CLELY), i guess it's 50-50 or less than 50% chance for THA squads??..
I wonder why in soccer, there is no problem between players' sponsor and national team sponsor. I am sure sometimes there will be some conflicts between Reebok, Adidas, Nike but none of these things cause the players to be unable to play in the national team.

It's easier for INA Uber team because no Salakjit, Porntip, Sapsiree, Saralee, Kunchala and Duanganong... (from today newspaper) but.. Firdasari vs Ratchanok Ratchanok beat Firdasari in SEA GAMES Laos 20009 Febe vs Nitchaon Nitchaon beat Febe in Astec Ultra Milk Open INA international challenge Greysia/Nitya vs Savitree/Vacharaporn Savitree/Vacharaorn beat Greysia/Nitya in SEA GAMES Laos 2009 INA will have two points from WD2 an WS3..must get at least one from WS1,WS2 and WD1
Yes, WS1 and WS2 are still difficult to beat. Somehow WD1 has to win and I think new pairing might play
I just learned that DEN, RUS, and GER already qualified to play in the Uber Cup finals. The 4th team is NED. So any team who is #4 in Asia will be compared to NED in rankings. I'm pretty sure INA, HKG, KOR, and JPN are better than NED. Don't know about THA, IND, and TPE today...
them stats.. ..those are good & dandy stats for reference and comparison, but the INA's UC squad might or could flip the lineup around and those some players and pairs won't play against each other this time around. And vice versa for the THA squad. So, for what it's worth, we can throw those stats out the window.. ..you can check out this thread, below, for the team ranking (might not be the latest & greatest) but i think it's a good enough reference. And for what i can see, NED (as the 4th European team) probably won't make the final wild card spot as there are a bunch of Asian countries ahead of them. They'll need a miracle or a total collapse by either HK, INA, JPN or KOR to make the final wild card spot. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80896
Hi folks, I'm sorry for joining late that thread and I do hope somebody will still read it - Anyway, regarding the news from Thailand, as far as I know the same happend to the dutch team lately, sounds to me as the background was somehow the same - so it seems that somebody in Asia wants to get same experiences we already ran through couple of weeks ago - folks, don't do that! Other topic - what happend in INA? I am glad to see that they start with full power - included Taufik and Kidawan - did they finally realize that they do need the best shuttlers? that's good and that's how it should work everywhere! But when will we see Hayom again? Since Simon and Sony are not able to get on top, we need him soon!
