You guys are not getting the point. At this stage, if our team were to lose badly, we cannot say that it's because the players are not double specialists. They are now representing the country in a continental competition. Excuses like this will not improve performance.

Forget the fact that the players are specialists or not, the fact remains, GD (and future WD) will still be China's domain. They can field all scratch pairs, it would still be good enough to beat the rest of Asia and probably the World.

I agreed. But then another question here. Why China Women's Double could win on a consistent basis no matter playing their experienced or scratch pairs and beat the rest of the world but the same does not apply to their Men's Double? The same phenomeno also applies to almost all other sports as well.

I remember Xie Xingfang was the World Junior GD champion... :D China's girls and women have very high skill levels, they may play singles or doubles and still can produce decent results. I think [let me pick a random matchup] ...Wang Lin-Wang Yihan WD pair can beat many top 20-30 WD in the world. Their skill levels are just very high.

You cannot compare different disciplines of the same sport that way.

Different techniques are used in each event and it is certain that even China is not at the highest level on all of the disciplines. Tradition helps too, that if the country is historically strong in a discipline, the amount of information available to coaches of that country to maintain and enhance their younger generation is more than what is available in other countries. China's MD tradition is disjointed compared to their other disciplines.

In women's doubles, defences had gone so strong and even the attacks from frontcourt nowadays are not strong enough by themselves to finish rallies. Change of pace, change of direction, and long rallies are the norm, and fitness levels have to be very high.

The Chinese GD pairs here have got their basics right, such that they could clear even on the backhand to baseline under pressure. Whereas other pairs (Malaysians included) tend to send loose returns once forced to overhead or backhand. Nothing much to do with being singles or doubles specialist here.

No, Zulfadli did not lose because he's not in BAM fold, he lost because the Chinese player used the right tactics to force him back.

Credit where it's due, the Chinese guy was more astute. Maybe got a lot of pointers from Chen Yu.

That's what I saw... Huang from CHN just played the right tactical match... using his strongest arsenals to destroy Zul's gameplan... ;) Huang just played better yesterday, period. :)

Li Gen reminds me of the Cockatoo bird:

    Kakatua.jpg

His deliberately designed spiky hair, fat fluffy body, and oftentimes he wore white clothings... :D

Suo Di takes game 1 21-13, Sapsiree made more of a match of it over the last 6 pts.

Disinterested in hitting the shuttle in the final:eek: I think it is a sign of frustration of not able to match the level of play shown by the opponent.

China players always peform when it matters. Maybe Limsy's prediction is wrong or is it too early to say?

Wow.... although playing doubles is sonia's and lilian yang's part time job and you still rate them 50-50 against Tang/Xia if they play 100%...hmnn.....I think China should be beware of this pair in the future...Luckyli Xiao ti/wu qian2 or Bao YX/Ou DN didnt meet this pair
