I used to use old Carbonex 8 long time ago. It was my favorite racket. What is the specs of the racket? In terms of Stiffness, Balance, weight. Thanks.
carbonex 8 is the first yonex racket with graphite shaft. 2 piece- aluminum head, graphite shaft depending on the conditions i would say its stiff to medium stiff weight i believe comes in 2U and U(dont quote me on it) standard string pattern external T-joint comes in 8 colors headlight to even balanced thats all from the top of my head others will chime in soon
Cab 8 as it was known was popular around 1983/1986. After that, the earlier 1 piece racquets became more popular. The racquet would have been slightly heavier than some of the Nanospeeds. In those days, the head was made of aluminium or other metal and therefore manufacturers did not have the ability to change weight to suit. So, you couldn't put extra weight into the top of the racquet. this would have to be done using lead tape. I agree, that the racquet was probably medium flex and the heads were prone to distorting if they took an impact with floor or other racquet. But, they rarely broke although over time suffered metal fatigue. New heads and shafts could be purchased at one time. I've fitted quite a few over the years. I think you just have to accept that these were very different racquets - but they were incredibly popular. Cab 8 was superceded by Cab 9 and then Cab 10. Cab 8DX came along later and was basically a cab 8 with a thinner shaft. Paul www.badminton-coach.co.uk
Carbonex 8 is the racket Carbonex 8 is the racket that made badminton the sport that is today. In the 70's / 80's a competition racket weight 100 g, Carbonex 8 is 90 g (less). Is not a first racket with carbon shaft, that is carbonex 7. In today terms is a racket medium (3 plus in yonex classification).
I think the first Yonex racket with carbon shaft is Cab 3, it is with a wooden head. I happen to have a few original cab 8, they are certainly medium flex but they are actually very head heavy. Mine were measured: bp @311mm, racquet length 667mm bp @318mm, racquet length 665mm Mind you racquets from those days are a full 10mm shorter in total length compare to todays standard, which make it much more maneuverable. Beside the obvious current dated Cab series, I personally found the MP series of racquets have the closest feel to it. Ted

If I remember correctly, Carbonex 8 is the first Yonex racket with FULL carbon graphite shaft. The earlier Carbonex models (i.e. Carbonex 3 & Carbonex 7) have carbon coated shafts.
Yes brand new! i think there are still 4 to 5 units left. They even have CAB20s(4pcs) and Ti5s(3pcs) (japan made) selling at US$89.
