(not yet for me) http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2010/5/22/nation/6317337&sec=nation The Star - Saturday May 22, 2010 Winnie K serves up a new song By NOORSILA ABD MAJID newsdesk@thestar.com.my PETALING JAYA: Her love for badminton is so great that Winnie K has written and included one song in her new Mandarin mini album especially for the popular game. “I love badminton. I've penned one song, Jia You (Go for it), which is also the theme song for Kuala Lumpur Racquet Club (KLRC),” the singer said yesterday. The song, she added, also represented her support for the game, especially for the Malaysian team. Winnie also managed to watch the team slug it out in the recent Thomas Cup, adding that she used to represent her school in badminton tournaments. Winnie also revealed that she used to date Indonesian national champion, Taufik Hidayat, while national doubles shuttler Koo Kien Keat is a close friend of hers. “Things are long over between Taufik and me, but we remain good friends,” Winnie said. “That's why you will always see me cheering him on.” The singer maintains that she had a strictly platonic relationship with Koo whom she met through Taufik. “We're not dating as rumoured,” Winnie reiterated. “A girl-guy relationship doesn't have to be romance, you know. It is possible for us to be just good friends and nothing else.” With the new mini album titled Close To Me, Winnie has returned to her Chinese roots after creating waves with her Malay album Kau Ada Di Mana in Malaysia and Indonesia. Brimming with radio-friendly pop tunes, it is helmed by four of the brightest Malaysian songwriters and producers who have earned their stripes in the regional Mandarin music industry, namely Percy Phang, Tang Xiao Kang, Zheng Ke Wang and Lee Zhi Qing. Following Winnie's success in the Malay market here and in Indonesia, her record label, Warner Music, thinks her sophomore Mandarin effort looks set to be a hit. “There are six songs on the EP, including two remixes,” she said. On her hopes for her new release, the singer said she hoped to take the album as far as Taiwan and China.
