It seems that our Doubles Coaches is in demand elsewhere...

First is Tan Kim Her... now Choong Tan Fook.

CTF will be coaching for Team Hong Kong for the doubles department. Im very happy for him. Initially "someone" you know who wanted to rope him for CHINA  . Yes CHINA! But i guess he prefer HKG. Anyway Team Hong Kong is great also as a stepping stone.

I guess the partnership of Lee Wan Wah and Choong Tan Fook will go to a close soon. Still have no words when will be their last pairing. They will still be playing in tournaments this year.

I think Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah's final career match will be in the 2010 World Championships. Good luck to both of them in the future, and hope CTF's coaching brings some shocks and surprises from Hong Kong. [Lee Chun Hei & Ng Ka Long might be under him ]

Well, the WJC bronze-medallist Ng Ka Long/Lee Chun Hei lost today in the Tangkas Alfamart Junior IC. They were supposed to face the top-seeded Dandi Prabudita/Jones Ralfy Jansen, but, they lost to Wahyu Nayaka/Samuel Paulus in straights-sets.

Wow an an opportunity to work with the best outfit in the world, probably the first foreign badminton coach to have that honour , and he turns it down. Pui Fook ,Ah Fook.Maybe other reasons eg.getting along with bossy someone.

I think it was the Guangzhou Badminton Association, the province where is Chinese wife hails from, which offered Choong Tan Fook the doubles coaching job.

It was not the GBA who approached Tan Fook for the coaching Job initially. It was "someone's" idea for him to coach for China maybe the Jr team. But TF wouldn't want. Then only to get GBA to lure him but still not successful. I am not attracted with the HKG offer since it is not that big. But knowing CTF's character and temperament I'm not suprised that he took that offer. Less stress for him I guess.

Ants, if what you wrote has some truth, then people are pulling favours for CTF to work there. As there probably is an established coach in place, then it could possibly 'upset' some people if CTF were to take up a position there. Again, let's presume if CTF were do a better job, then some people might get jealous as well.

In HKG, there is a vacancy available with the departure of Chan Chi Choi and probably less potential for factions to develop.

Who is "someone" without knowing who this is it really in just conjecture.

Surely the person that would make a decision to bring a coach on board to China team (Senior or Junior) would be the head coach, or someone higher. I can't believe they would want a foreign coach with no prior experience of coaching to take a top job in their team. It is not as though he is a top level player who everyone would look up to either.

A few months back Choong Tan Fook and his wife had a few "assessment" sesssions with members of the Guangdong Badminton Association with a view to getting a coaching job. They finally made him an offer to be a coach for the Guangdong province. I guess he did not take this up. The Hong Kong MD coach would be a very good deal for him, as his wife could also be roped in as a WD coach which HK needs badly.

yah agree with you, as i am also not fancy with the "someone" logic... China is not lack of having retired champions as coaches...

yet amongst taking up a foreign coaching job amongst the choices of a national junior team, the provincial or city team of GuangZhou and Hong Kong team, of course would choose HK team that has not that much pressure, pretty good support and more importantly still have international exposure, which is a good step stone for future coaching job in any other national team.

so he just simply made the right choice.

There is nothing serious about this matter. It is CTF's choice to coach where he wants. Nothing political. It's an offer that he have to choose just that the first offer was for China then Gba n Followed by Hkg. Anyway there was no words on roping his wife for Malaysia. I guess he prefer to coach for Hkg due to some flexibility offered by HKbA
