    Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively. Only 7 countries have won medals :

    1) China - 11, 6, 13
    2) South Korea - 6, 7, 4
    3) Indonesia - 6, 6, 6
    4) Denmark - 1, 1, 2
    5) Malaysia - 0, 2, 2
    6) England - 0, 1, 1
    7) Netherlands - 0, 1, 0

    I expect Japan to be in the list in 2012.
    Note that although Malaysia is the only badminton powerhouse who have yet to win a gold medal which is a fact, I would like to remind all BCers not to make fun of this fact. It will create a lot of tension and disturb the harmony in BC.

    what a record for CHN, they have such depth in both men and women.
    INA and Korea shared the joy mainly in MD.
    For 2012, i predict Hayom to win gold in MS :) (hope my prediction is as accurate as the football WC :) )

    I think TBH/KKK also have a good chance. TBH/KKK are the youngest pair among arguably the currect best 4 (HS/MK, CY/FHF, LYD/JJS), KKK will be 27 and TBH will only be 24 in 2012.

    LYD is currently battling with injury, we never know if he will ever come back the same player he was. Same can be said about Markis Kido, IMO he's recent performances are really bad compare to the previous ones. I heard MK is having some health problem. And the rest such as HS/MK and CY/FHF will all be older than 28yrs. So i think among them TBH/KKK have the best chance.

    But obviously there is always a thread from the Denmark pair, the Taiwanese pair (who just won SO and IO back to back, and I cant remember their name :( ), and also maybe from the younger Chinese pair can get better. Sadly :( ATM i have not seen any good young pair from INA.

    XD? yes as long as butet still at her best, plus also with tanto its a new pairing so its still a question mark as to whether they will be a success.

    I have not heard about KKK/TBH, they could be in hiding just like CY/FHF :)

    Hope that more nations can win some Badminton medals at the 2012 Olympic Games

    .
    Me too. :):):)

    I hope that Japan, India, Chinese Taipei, and many other nations can win some medals at the 2012 Olympic Games.

    If Badminton is only good for just a few nations, then non-Badminton followers would ask:
    "Why is Badminton an Olympic Sport when only a few countries are good at it?"

    Australia is strong at Cricket; and we have been asking the Olympic Games Committee to include Cricket in the Olympics.

    So far, the committee have said "NO"; because only a few countries are good at it, namely;
    * Australia
    * England
    * India
    * New Zealand
    * Pakistan
    * South Africa
    * Sri Lanka
    * West Indies
    * etc, etc, ......

    Just hope that Badminton will not be excluded from the Olympics for the same reason as for Cricket.

    TBH is born 1985, will be 25 in 2012. Denmark : you mean Boe/Mogenson? Taiwan : must be Fang/Lee then. Young Chinese pair = Chai Biao/Zhang Nan. Korea's Ko/Yoo(this week's Macau Open winner) are moving up to back up LYD/JJS.

    KKK/TBH will participate in next week's Taiwan Open before WC.

    In 2012, I expect to see these countries on the list of medallists:

    1) India (Arguably the favourite to be added, if Saina continues her performance.)
    2) Japan (They might not be the champions, but they can play consistently enough.)

    I am in doubt about Chinese Taipei. TTY is still too young, IMO.

    ..typo??..you meant 27 y.o. come 2012??..

    For MD and most other other events winners, usually the winners are around 23-24 y.o. and above..there are hardly any OG winners who are under such age simply because of the pressure associated with the magnitude of the event>>see LYD losing in MD but surprisingly winning the XD in the 2008 OG..:cool:

    ..so TBH was born in 1987 then, not 1985 as indicated??..

    I think LYD should win an OG MD title, if not in 2012 then in 2016..although with which player, that remains to be seen..

    Yep, TBH is born in 1987. He's 23 this year.
    As for LYD, he has a minimum of 2 more OG chances if he doesn't end his career early. Bright chance for him to get at least 1 Gold.
