Here is my selection of the best players in this Thomas cup: :D

MS1: Lin Dan, sweep away whoever in his way. well-deserved world No.1.

MS2: Bao Chunlai, scared many at final, still controlled himself and beat ever fighting KJ(Salute to KJ, a true fighter and gentleman!)

MS3: Peter Rasmusson, even he is 30 years old, still a reliable champion.

MD1: Jonas/Lars, a head above all the rest of the doubles, like Lin Dan, well deserved world No.1.

MD2: Sang Yang/Zheng Bo, Never lost a match during the whole tournament,
even facing Eriksen/Hansen, who beat them up 4:2 historically, in such important group tournament final.

I meant the player who really played that spot, Sony would not be able to play 2nd single, unless INA give up 1st single.

    Peter Rasmussen, DOB=8 February 1974
    He is 30 yrs old.
    :)

Although Choong/Lee did not feature much in this tournament, I would still rate them above Cai/Fu, but slightly behind or equal to Lars/Jonas. I think they would have won all their matches if Malaysia had not exited in the quarters, their form was very good, Alven and Luluk were totally outclassed.

My vote goes to Bao Chunlai, at least for the "most improved player" award.

Bao is known for his weakness mentally (still remember last TC...). I was scared to death when looking at the score between him and KJ in the final. Instead of being crushed again, this time Bao really showed significant improvement and won the most important point with the team score got evened @ 1:1. God damn knows what will happen if Bao lost. His victory gave a big relief to Sang/Zheng (as 3rd MS, Xia had the better record), on the other hand, Dan's 2nd pair got pushed to the edge, and facing extra pressure as "win or die".

Now, I think Chen Hong has to seriously think about if he could go to Olympic games or not... Li Yongbo gave a hint, as he told the reporters why he selected Bao instead of Chen as the 2nd MS:"I only select the player who can win the game to go..."

Bao may have improved but he's still a player

without a sense of direction and gives away easy points .

I think Chen Hong more consistent especially in Opens.

Chinese press in Msia quoted Chinas coaches as praising Lin Dan :

the player with the skills of Zhao Jian Hua, the brains of Sun Jun

and the mental strength of Xia Xuan Ze, now that's some player.

Most people tend to give Denmark too much credit praising

JR,Jonas or blaming Jenns but the truth of the matter was that

the tie could easily have been 2-0 up had Cai and Fu been a bit luckier and

    more experienced.

Anyway Denmark has proven what can be achieved with little resources

    and no shame in losing.

The best player of Thomas Cup 2004 is :

I think the best men's single player in the Thomas Cup 2004 is LIN DAN :)

He is an excellent player with excellent skills. I like his play very much. He always shows an attractive match when he beat his opponents. He is a talented player today. His mental is very good. He never gives up before the end of the game. I believe he will become a great player. He has a big chance to win the gold medal in the Olympic Games held in Athens.

So, finally Go LIN DAN ! I always support you. You make me enjoy watching the badminton match. You are very attractive.

haha i'm a Cai Fu supporter too but i think due credit must be given to JR and LP... they were so sharp on sunday and played with more purpose... I felt Fu just got too irritated and frustrated in the second game otherwise it would have been another close game...

    My best players:-

1st singles - Lin Dan, so cool and composed. No one can touch him as of this moment (except Chen Hong).

1st doubles - Paaske/Rasmussen and Choong/Lee tie. Both pairs got great form and experience. In comparison, younger pairs (Cai/Fu and Luluk/Alven) are better physically but not adept mentally.

2nd singles - who else but Taufik. Only problem is that he's too casual when leading. Despite winning the group match, Bao Chunlai would have lost against him if Indon go to final.

2nd doubles - Eriksen/Lundgaard. Yea, they lost the final, but I still say they beat themselves. Sang Yang/Zheng Bo a close 2nd.

3rd singles - no one. No candidate had played significant roles (cos by this time the tie is sealed).

Maybe without a fight, Taufik could have better chance, but there is no proof. And with Bao's skill, if Bao is mantally strong, no one can beat him easily..

That is why I asked MAS fan go punch Taufik's face or get punches from him before the INA: MAS match... :D :D

i think Lin Dan is the best MS player so far

for the doubles it's definitely Chong/Lee couple from MAS
they have really great defense!it is as if they have no holes in it..

but for the new comer i really admire sony dwi kuncoro, he's new but rising very quickly

as for the uber, gong ruina's still the best
as for uber's newcomers, i like firdasari and jun jae (speel?) from korea
    they're great!

errr..... do i need to reply??? hehehe
    definately my fave LIN DAN~!!!
he's the GREATEST.... though he really give me heart attack when playing with Lee Hyun II with the score of 0-8  but he pick up soon n end the game at 15-11..... :)
when he play with Peter Gade.... he fell again n again to save the smashes from Gade.... wow.... *heartpain* :p
n the yellow card was flashed at him (i tot only soccer has yellow card, didn't noe badminton has it too) he looked so pissed off.... but his mentality was strong enough not to be affected by the warning n Gade's stares n refusal to change shuttles....
he is just so confident n doing everything he could to win....
he is really a world no. 1 player.... n of cos... a potential Olympics winner :D
