    As the title says.
I plan to ask my mum to courier me a badminton racket from Malaysia to Canada (Toronto).

The only thing left for me to check out is the tax.

Whether there is a tax on badminton rackets or not?

Thanks in advance to whomever helps me out.
Your help is most appreciated! ;)

Yes, it is taxable. BUT, Just get your mum to lower the value of the parcel, and mark it as a gift with no commercial value. Shouldnt be a problem. I have shipped quite a few parcels to my friends in Canada before and none complained of the tax. :D

The tax should be just like what you would normally pay for if you bought the good in Canada. There would also be a handling charge as well I think. Just do what the others have said and you should be fine. I've bought around 10 rackets from HK and had them sent to me in Canada and I had never had to pay for duty.

Have it marked as a gift and you'll be fine with the taxes. The only trouble is when the customs hold it for inspection. Chance is low but if you're the unlucky one, it'll be held in the customs for another 2 or 3 weeks after arrival in Canada :(

    how many pieces ?
    - Just put a very low value
    - You may put any word as like Gift, Sample or whatever, but I prefer to the word "Badminton Racket"

many country do not put any single tax and duty on rackets.
so, please check the Canada Customs and refer to the HS (harmonized code), normally it is started with 9506....... (depended on the country).

for Singapore, it is depended on the value of each box, maximum would be SGD 400.

Make sure you use the national carrier (Pos Malaysia). Other carriers (Fed-Ex, DHL, UPS etc) will charge you handling fees which can be quite substantial.
