80 is a coincidence.

Yonex quite often releases the first of each line with a "7", like AT700, ARC7, etc. and then the "improved" model in the line will become the "8", well, sometimes, at least.

for the Victor X80, i am guessing it is because it is a 80 holes rackets. Victor doesn't follow a pattern when naming their racket except that newer models are usually higher in number. eg. Spira21 -> Spira22, etc.

Yh I know the nr selection of Yonex, just funny coincedence that they look so much a like, being released at about the same time and they have the same number.

I think it's also on the Yonex website but you can also emdbed it here:

It's on sale as of today btw, should be available at the German Open as well. Apparently the shaft isn't as stiff as the Yonex bar suggests (which we sort of concluded isn't only about shaft stiffness or if it is is only rated for the material used rather than actually measured), likely because like the Z-Slash it has a long and slim shaft but the VT80 should at least still be stiffer. Also the frame is thicker than VT70 (sideprofiled) ...

From the video, it is said that the slower the shuttle spin after the impact with the stringbed, the less air resistance which increase the velocity of the shuttle.

From there, we can see that after impact, the shuttle that leaves VT-80, spin slower than normal racket(you can see the point where the shuttle starts to spin) which means less air drag which increase the velocity of the shuttle

I suppose you are in the wrong thread but I can briefly explain to you.

The main purpose of spinning the shuttle is to pressure your opponent into returning a poor lift :D

so that you can continue to control or make a kill. :)

Only through constant practise can we have an effective spin

and once you have master it, whoever returning your spin must be careful

otherwise it could go out, into the net or simply half court ;)

After watching the video, I think I am the one in the wrong thread, sorry ;)

Based on the video, spinning of shuttle means when the bird starts to travel in a straight line.

Upon impact by the racket, the shuttle will collapse before changing direction,

in the course of changing it will return to normal, that is, the feather will return to it's original shape and then starts to spin.

Btw, shuttle are supposed to spin when they travels :D

The video tells us (how true I really don't know) voltric80 can hit harder thus making the shuttle collapse a split second longer than conventional racket before it returns to its original shape and start spinning as it moves :D

He was not talking about a spinning (or tumble) net shot as you thought. :p though you are correct at some point. but it was the spinning of the shuttle in the video he was talking about. ieim_17 hit the jackpot. :)

Yonex lists perceived/felt stiffness nowadays as opposed to material stiffness, so it probably feels stiff not necessarily because of the shaft, but possibly due to the stiffer frame.

Yeah we concluded that a while back already since the Japanese ratings (you are refering to) differ from the international ratings for some models like the Z-Slash for instance. But in this case the introduction of Nanopreme raised expectations for shaft stiffness but I guess they went for ultra-slim instead of ultra-stiff ...

Yea, probably ultra-slim with relatively high stiffness and not normal shaft diameter with the ultimate stiffness...

Yes, I was talking rubbish at first, sorry about that ;)

Haven't seen the racket yet but sure waiting to grab one :)

I think it should be good for doubles mid and front court jabs for a start:D

Haha, I thought that was a pretty funny tagline too~ XD

Seriously, given your love for the Mizuno TCs, I think you might want to check it out for the purpose of comparison, as "NANOPREME" is supposedly Yonex's answer to the TCs. Gotta say it's kind of a late response though...>_>
