Hi Jona, This topic has been discussed in this forum already but I like to hear it from a pro. When I was 30 years old, I felt myself faster, stronger and smarter than when I was 20 years old. So badminton players should peak at 30 years old. But most pro's retired at or before 30 years. I wonder why? Thanks,
Perhaps the pros started young and kept a rigorous lifestyle (training and tournament) until retirement. Knees and ankles are non-renewable resources, so to speak, as they're not likely to get any better as one ages. As for the average club to competitive tourney players, they seldom train as hard or as long as the pros. Also, I suspect many club players started out pretty late in their lives. So, peaking at 30 for regular players can be quite common whereas most pros peak at around 25.
That's what i wanted to say but i thot i'll let JR make reply first. Anyway, in short, when pros start training at early teens, their joints are stronger in their 20's than in their 30's. It's about wear and tear. As for me, i feel faster and stronger now than when i was high school or university years, just like you said.
I must be stronger after 30s. Recently got married and my *** life does not affect my performance, I still beat those young guns in my club.
I'm 27 (well for at least another month) and I feel much stronger than I ever did in my late teens or early twenties, the most noticable thing is that it takes time to recover from small injuries where as before I remember playing through them.
