Is it me, or did anyone notice that the last game almost had no commerical breaks compared to the others, thats awesome. I swore they were going to have on at switch. Good ol bravo, Bravo indeed..
Zhang was in total control in teh 2nd and 3rd game. her game plan was to move Mia to the 4 extreme corners. she utilizes her repetoire of amazing crosscourt skills to move Mia front back, left right. Mia was just scrambling from one corner to the other. Zhang Ning owes much to her height and the sharp shots that results from it. and she patiently executed her game plan and never deviated from it. even to the match point, she didn't rush and continue doing exactly the same thing. at the end, a tight net drop cause a loose return and she whams it into the ground. and i don't believe Zhang has ever missed a hair pin netshot throughout the whole match. everyone she made are tight and tumbles close to the net.
I'm so glad the ONLY match shown on Canada's pathetic broadcast was a good one and not disapointing. The CBC commentator was crap but who cares. I believed in Zhang Ning all along. I noticed how Mia relied a LOT on waiting for the shots to go out and have them called out, on the other hand, Zhang TAKES the risks of hitting them into deep and dangerous areas to make sure Mia is completely worn out, then back to the front and then fires it off to the back. Poor Gong Ruina, she was my favourite, didn't even get a single medal... but too bad for you, GO CHINA!
no, no, no, MD SF then watch Nathan and Gail get Britain's first Gold of the Games! (absolutely, definately, dead certainty, no doubt, honest, fingers crossed and everything)
It was reported that 1.5 BILLION people watched this game in one form or another! Hmm, why doesn't CBC take that into account and show some more badminton instead of some sport that will have 7 viewers. They still have time to change their schedule to fit for the Men's singles and men's doubles matches!!
totally agree... he was explaining every single rule in the badminton book, and he refered to net shots as... what...um... o ya, a descending drop or something. and refered to the sliced drops as smashes... and of course, he refered to clears as long-shots, , which i was amused upon... great match tho...
What a match, only match that's on Canada's TV, and it was a great one. but when Zhang got her 8th point in 3rd game, some fan shouted "OUT" in chinese, which it was out. we can see how much pressure Zhang had, went to Yi Yong Bo right aftr the game point, Yi almost had a heard attack, look at his facial expression for relief. lol
Hope there's a repeat of the match tonight... I can't wait to see her look after she won... Malaysia's TV 1 showed 5 minutes of the match..
Besides the lame commentary by CBC, the other thing I didn't care for was the use of the super high overhead camera for most of the match. I thought it was too far away and took away from the actual speed of their match. I much prefer the closer raised cornered/back view that is used in most matches. CBC got it right for the Canadian Open, but with 1.5 billion watching, I don't know what the heck they are doing... such a shame.
did somebody notice that linemen were not being fair? many of the shots could well be said out but... it was disappointing...
and is it normal for a player to have a reserve if the opponent isn't sure if the serve was in or not? that match was the first time i saw that...
I think the footage used is the same to all tv networks and they put on their commentary, bbc also had overhead straight down court, I think china tv did the pictures
1.5 billion is for the world count and did CBC crew shoot that or is that the default Athens camera to be rebroadcasted to all over the world?
