I was wondering if anyone has any experience using Pro Supex Zing. I recently had two rackets restrung using this string and found I really liked the feel of it. It had good smash sound and hard feel similar to bg80. I'm trying to find where I can buy a reel in GTA but found no suppliers. I am tempted to try the zing rough. http://www.prosupex.com/strings_badminton strings.html
I have been using Pro Supex Zing Ultra more and more, I recently restrung my rackets to 23 lbs and the smashing sound seems so much better then BG80 but feel has been consistant. I was able to order more reels after finding a supplier, I ordered 3 reels of the Zing Ultra and 3 reels of Zing Rough. Can't wait to try out the Zing Rough to see the difference in control.
Hi Tenchi, Sorry I should have said I was able to contact Pro Supex directly and will sell to anyone as long as we meet the minimum order of 6 reels (total) so I ordered 3 reels each. The cost is about 50 dollars a reel after doing the exchange with their dollar and includes shipping.
Here are the contact e-mails I used.. their english is a bit broken prosupex@seed.net.tw jong.supex@gmail.com debbie_supex@hotmail.com
Wow, min order is 6 reels ... Don't know if I wanna spend 300 bux on strings I've never tried before Know anywhere I can get packets? How do these strings compare to say BG66/80 or ZM67/70? Anyone want to sell a reel?
Hey Sentinel604, If interested I could cut some from my reel for you to try if shipping is pretty cheap, just send me a pm. I can double check the pricing at CanadaPost when I'm done work. I really like this string but would like to hear other's opinions. I'd probably sell some of my reels once I get them all, right now I have a reel that's half used and another reel that I used for one racket.
First of all, Thanks to GaryC for hookin me up with these strings Zing!Ultra! (white) First impression of these strings reminds me of NBG95 due to it's waxy slippery coating String feels thick in hand (feels like 0.70mm) even tho it says they are 0.66 - 0.70mm. I'm guessing you can buy them in a variety of thickness??? Can u confirm this GaryC? There are no markings on the strings anywhere, so u would have no idea what you've just strung if you didn't take if out of the package yourself. I decided to string my Apacs Edgesabre10 to 28x30 on my tennishead w/constant pull on, no prestretch Very easy to string cause its slippery String doesn't fold easy like ashaway strings Feels like it's got a hard/stiff outer shell Got curious as to how many lbs this string can take and was surprised by the results It will withstand 45lbs constant pull w/prestretch! I wanted to go even higher but it started to slip off my clamps. Come on ... who the heck plays at 45lbs? Predictions Replusion: 9/10 Control:8/10 Feel: 7/10 Shock Absorbtion: 9/10 Durability:9/10 I will measure the string's thickness tomorrow with my micrometer at work Will return with results after my game tomorrow evening. Can't wait to try it out!
Morning Sentinel, when I put in my order there was no option about string diameter but looking at my reel there seems to be two check boxes and the one checked doesn't match with what's on the website. I'm going to check my other reels to see if there is any difference.
Sorry guys, I've been sick for the past week Anyways, finally got the string measured with the micrometer The string was not stretched nor clamped before Measured the string at multiple spots and still came in around 0.69mm +/- 0.02mm (yes it was zeroed) Due to its thickness, I must say it was quite forgiving on mis-hits IMO, the string felt like BG66 with NBG95 String is quite slippery due to the NANO coating that's utilized yet not as bad as the NBG95 The string felt kinda numb on impact just like the NBG series Definitely a high repulsion string I'm going to compare this string to the NBG95 because I believe it's the closest string to compare with Replusion: 9/10 Zing > Nano95 Control:7/10 Zing > Nano95 Feel: 7/10 Zing < Nano95 Shock Absorbtion: 9/10 Zing < Nano95 Durability:9/10 No signs of wear yet I think durability is gonna be high because of the NANO coating. The string shifts quite a bit but not as much as NBG95. No creases at the crosses yet I've only played ~ 4 solid hours with this string and I'll keep you guys posted after I get a few more hours in This string sounds amazing btw!
I would like to conclude my findings of the Pro Supex Zing! Ultra! Replusion : 9/10 Control : 6/10 Feel : 7/10 Shock abs : 9/10 Durability : 9/10 After playing with it for ~ 12 hrs, I would give this string an overall rating of 7.5/10 Pros - Very repulsive string, Very durable (absolutely no fraying or creases) Cons - Numb feel, looses too much tension after ~6hrs of play, slippery (very hard to slice the bird over the net) If you're looking for a cheap, very durable, and repulsive string then this is for you
Hey Sentinel, I agree with the control part now that I have been playing with a more textured string like BG80. Give the rough a try although I'm not using it right now I'd love your opinion on it if you have time.
Thanks to GaryC again for sending me some new samples of the new Pro Supex Zing Rough First off, this string definitely has a more textured coating (hence the name ... duh) Just from the feel of the string in hand, the string felt thinner and it didn't have that "hard shell" feel to the string like the Zing! Ultra! If you take a really close look, you can almost see how the outer core of the string was woven Camera doesn't do justice - Picture was taken with a 1:1 macro lens zoomed in ~ 100% with paint Prior to stringing, I did some measuring Pro Supex Zing Rough is @ ~ 0.665mm +/- 0.02mm Stringing was quite easy with this string but it does fold easy like the ashaway zymax series I've decided to string the Zing Rough to the same Apacs Edgesabre10 for a closer comparison between the two Apacs Edgesabre10 to 28x30 on my tennishead w/constant pull on, no prestretch After stringing my racket, I decided to do some strength test with the remaining string Initially, I started pulling it at 45lbs with no pre-strech cause you know ... Zing! Ultra! could take it! FAIL! This string snapped at around 35lbs! So the I guess the safest MAX tension would probably be 32lbs So my prediction will be: Repulsion : 9/10 Control : 8/10 Feel : 8/10 Shock abs: 7/10 Durability : 7/10 Hit you guys back with some resullts in a few days!
After playing around with the Zing Rough for a couple weeks, I feel that its time to finish off this write up Repulsion: 8/10 Control: 9/10 Feel:8/10 Shock abs: 8/10 Durability: 8/10 I prefer using the Rough over the Ultra because of its texture which gives me the control of the bird. I can slice/spin birds all day without a problem at all. I'd say the texture is rougher than BG85. Repulsion is definitely not as good as the Ultra but what's power without control? Doesn't have that "THACK!" noise but still has a good tone I would give this string an overall score of 8/10 Pros: Control is amazing Cons: Not as numb as the Ultra but it's still there, repulsion can be better (BG66 > rough), Looses tension too fast Great choice of string if you're looking for something that is cheap and durable with amazing amount of control. I wouldn't recommend this string to people who plays at high tensions cause the breaking point is at ~ 35lbs.
Oh thanks for the review Sentinal... now just wondering what to do with all the reels I bought, I kind of switched to BG80
Just try it out first, it's not a bad string BG80 is also one of my fav Just curious, how many reels did you buy? I'm sure these would sell to people who doesn't have much preference/ high expecations for strings
I bought 3 of Rough and 5 total for Zing Ultra. Maybe I'll throw them on ebay to see if anyone is interested in taking 1 or 2 of them.
