We have to give Chen Long credit for the win against Chong Wei . Chen long has improved ever since his win in the world junior championship .. but in terms of technique and smashes , he is still behind Lin dan .. I agree chen long get the extra rest to win against chong wei .. zhong guo dui jia you... wo ai zhong guo ...

So patriotic ? There are 2 sets of fans. One is an idol worshipper. The other is a country fanatic. Both can be dangerous if it reaches the extreme stage. Let loose a little. Release some tension. Better for the health.

LCW may retire without a world title

I mean Olympics and World cup

I really wish he could retire with a major title. He deserves to have one. However, LCW is facing tough competition.

2012 London Olympics, I still think LD : LCW is 60:40, simply because LD handles big tournament better. Even if LCW can beat LD, now CL is catching up. The thing is in 2012, lcw WILL BE ONE YEAR OLDER. CL is going up, but LCW is going down. Aging is catching up with LCW.

LCW said he's going to participate 2013 world champion, by then he is 2 years older. I think CL will have more age advantage.

Do you believe Federer will win another GS? Djokovic and Nadal will not easily give up, and Federer is getting older each year. Actually it is easier (though not easy) for Federer to win another GS than LCW to win a major title, because there are 4 GS each year, and there is only one major title each year in badminton.

LCW is going down? Are you mad? He never played so well! OK, he lost in last week final, but obviously he is a bit out of focus. Look the whole of 2011 : he has never played a better game, never been so fast.

Limsy, my points were more to response to what some who said something meant "why China was so rude/naked/obvious to withdraw with no-show for two semi finals at once?"

When does one see China to withdraw from two semi finals at one tournament? even worse with no show at all like what happened in JO last week???

Didn't Lin Dan and Liu Xin come to the hall to make their apologies to the spectators (like at the 2011 Singapore Open SS)?

Lee CW is definitely not "going down" yet, no way just looking at the results, that's why he is still ranked world no.1, though Lin Dan has a slight edge when it matters, and now Chen Long is catching up but not yet the same league as the two Super Stars. With all three around, the international Badminton scene will continue to be exciting and worth following.

agree. that's too pre-mature a conclusion just by looking at one or two tournaments. athletes are humans who have up and down days and peak and non-peak periods. an overall trend cannot be formed so quickly.

What would people say if LCW was to lose in the first round of WC against K. Cordon? It would be the end of the world.

    hear!

with the demise of TH and a PG that for years have not been able to eclipse the like of LD and LCW, it will be refreshing to see another face emerge into the top spots. competition is what makes watching and following badminton exciting.

    LCW-vs-CL return match

    .
I've got a feeling that more BCers would now be hoping to watch the next LCW-vs-CL return match; more than the previous 'hope-for' LCW-vs-LD match. :D:D:D

    good point.

different fans will want to see that match for different answers:

    - will CL beat LCW again?
    - will LCW prove that he is still the best (and not in decline) by beating CL convincingly?

    good times.

I beg to differ a little. It all depends on the style of play (for me). CJ had (and perhaps will regain) all it got to challenge LD and LCW from time to time, but his style is quite unattractive so we got bored. CL, if he can be regular, is not so good to watch either.
I wish the challenges could come from Wang Zhengming, such a spectacular player! Alas, he is not quite there yet.
