    Didn't see much of the Athens 2004 - badminton on TV!

    What were the best matches for MS, MD, WS, WD and XD? Please let's share your opinions on those "Matches of the tournament". Many thanks.

    WS = Zhang Ning vs Audina
    MS = SSM vs Kuncoro
    XD = Zhan Jun / Gao Ling vs Emms and Robertson

    Need to think on the rest.

    It has to be the mixed doubles final between the chinese pair and the english pair. Wonderful performance from both pairs.

    The semi-final MD between Lee/Yoo v Erikssen/Lundgaard was great, Koreans lost the first, came back to win the match.

    Same with WD final, glad Zhang/Yang showed they can beat Gao/Huang in a major tournament - some ridiculously long rallies in that match though (70, 80 strokes???).

    For sheer emotion, Zhang Ning's win was great, sad to see Mia's tears at the medal ceremony. Emms/Robertson v Zhang/Gao was a terrific match, so tense.

    In terms of quality the best match I saw was Ronald Susilo v Lin Dan, they were both at the top of their game, much like the last two sets of the XD final. For drama and tension one match that immediately springs to mind is the first round MS, Kasperi Salo v Bjoern Joppien.

    To me, it would be the MXD Finals in the second and third set. The first set was a no-sweat game for the Chinese. It was definitely an exciting game to watch, especially when you are supporting any pair. THe GB wants their first gold in badminton, whereas the Chinese supporters desperately want to see ZJ - GL to defend their title.

    I watched the match between WCH vs Taufik. It was only exciting because I was supporting WCH but it ended up getting a high-blood pressure! ;)

    The WD in semi and finals was exciting enough too. I mean, the CHina vs China matches. Both pair were like equallly goood and they desperately wanted to win that much!

    Must say I think its great that the MXD final has got such recognition, because IIRC was there not some talk of removing it from the Olympics ??
